I've removed these at home by applying a generous dab of salicylic acid gel (the kind used for acne) and topping it with a bandaid. Changed it daily for 2 or 3 days. The barnacle softened and began to disintegrate, and I was able to scrape the rest off with a thumbnail.

I have lots of these and after a large one on my face was zapped three years in a row (with liquid nitrogen) by my dermatologist with no result, I decided to try tea tree oil. Amazing! Took a couple of weeks with daily application but it is gone with no scarring and has not returned. I use tea tree oil on lesions from shingles as well and it works. I believe more research should be done with these traditional remedies--they've worked for centuries!

Thank you! I'm 57 and just visited dermatologist here in Houston this morning because I have one right under my butt cheek 😳. I was stressing thinking omg I have melanoma, etc but she took a look and said it was SK which I've never heard of. First thing I thought of when I returned to the office is to look up Dr Dray for more detailed info. Thanks for all you do, it's appreciated! Melissa

Happy Friday, Dr Dray! I have a few of these but they're not bothersome. I don't like the way they look, however. They're pretty small and I've never thought to have them removed. Thanks so much for the info. Awesome as always! Have a great Labor Day weekend!! 🌠🎆🌠

Really enjoy all of your videos. I, too, would like more pictures of what you discuss. Thanks.

I had 3 SKs removed on my back by a dermatologist last month; she used cryotherapy. It was the first time I had this procedure done or was made aware of what these growths were.
  • Amazing to read the comment of someone who used tea tree oil, with positive effects! I am completely rid of one scabby looking mole, and am working on a seborreic one on my arm that bothers me because it is ugly and prominent.

'Dangerous' how? Skin damage &/or infection? The Eskata treatment seems like a great choice! Thanks so much

I enjoy all your videos but this is the one I was hoping to see from you. I have them all over my face in different stages. I was looking for the best way to remove them without leaving a scar. I scar very easily. Thank you for addressing it.

Happy Friday Dr.Dray. So informative. I’ll definitely be sharing this information with family and friends. Have a great holiday weekend. I’ll be cleaning, decluttering, and binge watching any of your videos I may have missed.

I was wondering if you would do a video of estheticians vs dermatologists! I’m an Esthetician but I feel like we are on our high horse sometimes when it comes to skincare.
