It is downright criminal that Denzel Washington didn't win an oscar for this.
-
He could not dishonor her memory. Heart wrenching this scene.
-
I could smell the alcohol just by his acting.
-
This confession ultimately saved his life. Awesome movie.
-
This scene tears me up every time. Denzel is so great that even when he plays corrupt or troubled person, you are still rooting for him. Great movie.
-
Underrated movie, and a powerful scene! If he didn't admit it then publicly, that moment would haunt his conscience 'till his death.
-
He deserves Oscar for this scene
-
"This ain't a court room" "I object anyways!!" This is exactly how I felt. Set Denzel free!!
-
denzel washington the best actor of all time...!
-
Its like denzel actually had feelings for that girl and his guilt was real. Like it wasn't even acting, chilling. Watching the entire movie leading up to that scene. Its like a microcosm for anyone trying to escape demons with drugs and alcohol. At some point you need to just stand up and say im done feeling sorry for myself i need to take any punishment i deserve and get my life back

A recovering alcoholic myself, this scene really had a lot to do with me finally taking those first steps to looking at myself and realising denial was the reason my life would never improve if i couldnt do what he just did. Powerful and a real performance
-
2:20 Denzel's best moment in the movie.
-
Literally breaks down in front of your eyes and nobody could have done it better
-
This scene has brought me to tears...twice
-
Any other actor would've broken down in tears in this scene, but no... not Denzel. He goes through every emotion you can think of, and with practically no dialogue. Disbelief, fear, resignation, shame, and relief... all just using his eyes and his voice and body language. That quiet "God help me..." man... At the end, you can practically feel that even though it's painful to admit, he's relieved that he's admitted the truth. This is a scene that could easily be a loss for the character. Denzel turns it into a triumph. Truly one of the greatest actors to ever live.

Thats a damn good scene, i give props to denzel, damn good actor, he is so convincing
-
Somehow the word alcoholic has such powerful connotations. It's much more than just saying 'I'm a heroin addict' or 'im a crack addict'. If you're an alcoholic , uttering those words to someone for the first time is the most liberating yet utterly terrifying thing you can do. Washington is brilliant here.

This is one of the best scenes ever.
-
The way his voice breaks when he says "Alcoholic" , That's transcends acting and drama, so real !!!
-
He couldn’t lie on her name, even with the fact that she was dead & gone. I love this scene.
