Hampi - Hazara Rama Temple - The Outer Walls and the Royal Enclosure Defences

After being told off for making a video inside, I continued outside where the beautiful sculpted outer walls show processions and other scenes. The wind interferes with the sound in places.
Once outside, the defensive walls of the Royal Enclosure surround the area, the unique tapering of the walls can be viewed in profile from one of the broken segments.

The Hazararama Temple (A thousand Rama's) was built exclusively for the royals of the Vijayanagara during the early part of the 15th Century, by King Devaraya II.
Four ornate marble columns, carved from a single block, dominate the mandapa.
On the walls, both inside and outside of the temple, the entire Ramayana story is depicted in glorious detail, and which have survived in a better state of preservation than most other temples. On the outside walls, processions are also depicted. Thankfully, the invading Deccan Sultanates never damaged the temple, and this suggests some kind of agreement was made with the defeated army and its residents.
The temple sits almost in the middle of the Royal Enclosure, and is one of the most beautiful in Hampi.
