A neutron bomb is actually surprisingly less devastating in the long run than what I initially believed. They are made to increase neutron radiation, which leads to immediate death from neutron radiation but also causes radioactive isotopes due to neutron absorption. Most of these isotopes, however, have a short half-life, like Fe-59 which has a half-life of 44.5 days. This means that the area will be inaccessible for months where it will be incredibly radioactive, but will not lead to devastating radiation for years because of the short half-lives. A fascinating weapon.
