After hearing that the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach was devastated by flooding in December 2010, Bob Barker made a generous donation of $250,000 to the rescue and rehabilitation facility. In January 2011 a sea lion was named "Barker" in Bob's honor. On June 8, 2011 the Bob Barker Visitor Center was dedicated in a ceremony attended by Bob Barker and scores of supporters. After the ceremony, the rehabilitated sea lions "Barker" and her friend "Jack" were released back into the ocean at Treasure Island beach at the Montage resort hotel in Laguna Beach. This amidst the cheers of scores of onlookers.
