Yep. The crowd screams at the top of their lungs when the opposing offense is on the field to make it difficult to communicate. They try to cause mistakes like false start penalties. But when their offense is on the field, they stay quiet

Beaver Stadium, which is the name of the stadium, also called Happy Valley, is the 2nd largest stadium in the US at 106,500. The whiteout game is a fairly new tradition but has become one of the craziest atmospheres in college football
  • @jeffdetmer4681
The chant at the beginning was P-S-U, for Penn State univ. As the Penn State team was coming out onto the field they also played a snarling roar of a big cat, as the PSU team is The Nittany Lions. The crowd does all they can to disrupt the visiting teams communications, but it's amazing how quiet all those people can be when PSU has the ball.

At these games the National Anthem and school fight songs are played. The average age range for most of the players is 18-22. Corresponding with majority of university students ages. Penn State won this game 28-21.
  • A live college football game is unlike any other environment! The energy is infectious! People who don't even understand football generally have a good time.
  • @williambanks2223
PSU white outs are legendary. When you are the visiting team and can't hear the signals, you switch to a silent count, which means the quarterback uses foot stomps hands gestures to call the play. You allow call several plays in the huddle.

110,669 in attendance for this game. #7 Penn State vs #16 Michigan. Penn State won 28-21. It was a great game :). I live 15 minutes from Penn State one of my fav college teams.
  • @david-1775
The Michigan coach had to call a timeout to avoid a delay of game penalty (Each team gets 3 per half). Basically the Michigan quarterback was distracted by the crowd noise and lost track of the 40 second clock. When a play is whistled dead a 40 second clock begins counting. If the offense hasn't snapped the ball (put it in play) before the 40 second clock runs, they will get a 5 yard penalty.

I’m a Michigan fan and the Big House is absolutely insane but there’s something about White outs in Happy Valley that are just different, I’ve never seen such energy for a game, Ik before this game started we were screwed, one of the toughest stadiums to play in
  • I was at this game in the end zone. It was the 4th largest attendance ever at Beaver Stadium. 109,000+ if I remember correctly. Only white out I was ever at but it was one of my fondest memories at a Penn St game...
  • @rm54322
I’m glad y’all got to watch this video I go to Penn state now as a student and was at this game in 2019. It was the loudest event I’ve ever been to. I literally could not hear my dad standing right next to me. The very first play you watched had gotten so loud the michigan offense couldn’t hear anything which resulted in a penalty because of a delay of game. Penn state has a whiteout every year and is argued to be the best environment in college football. It’s an absolute blast and before the game people tailgate all day stretching about a km away from the stadium.
  • @lap723
I’m so ready for Penn State football now, and the first game isn’t until September!
  • This video doesn’t even do justice for the atmosphere of the white out. It’s absolutely ELECTRIC there.
  • @cawcloud
When Penn State has a home football game, with over 100,000 in the stadium, State College because the 3rd largest city in Pennsylvania.
  • @timothyl.5082
I was at this game. At the end it was so loud that Michigan had to call a timeout (one of three they have for the first half of the game). Beaver Stadium holds a capacity of 107,000 people (seats). The attendance for this game was over 110,000. Many TV analyst call a Penn State Whiteout one of the greatest spectacles in sports.
  • @jeffburdick869
9:00 thats one of the things that makes home field advantage so valuable in American Football. The crowd disallowing the offense to call audibles benefits the defense.
  • The dates on the stadium are for particularly notable years, like when they went undefeated and won a conference or national championship. Also, as a Penn State grad, I can say first hand that the environment at these games is absolutely insane. I will also say that the lead-up to the game is incredible as well. PSU is a big school but it's in a small, rural town sitting in a valley and the whole town is bustling. Not only are the bars and restaurants packed, but the stadium sits on the edge of campus, meaning that people tailgate in the fields. People will set up on gameday or the day before and just cook, eat, drink, play games, and essentially have a big party before the game. And when it's a night game like this, it's basically just a huge celebration leading up to kickoff
  • 1:56 The last chant they gave was 'We are PSU' I think. 2:38 Then 'Let's go PSU'. College games are fun. Even in the smaller stadiums it can be a lot of excitement. In huge stadiums like this one you have to shout to the person next to you to be heard. 9:38 I think Michigan had to call a time out or get a delay of game penalty. You have to snap the ball in a certain amount of time.
  • @chrism6024
With top prospects getting 5+ offers to play for major colleges Penn State uses the yearly white out game as a tool for recruiting. They invite prospective players to the game, let them stand on the sidelines and experience it firsthand. Many past and current players say they made up their mind to play for Penn State during their White Out visit.

When you come to America, try to go to an American College Football game. The team spirit, the crowd and the marching band add an entire new level to the game. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Oh, by the way, Pennsylvania State stadium holds 106,500ish.
