“Lyd”: Directors of New Sci-Fi Doc on How 1948 Nakba Devastated Palestinian City

Our family comes from Lyd. The events of July 1948–when my father and his family were violently expelled from their home and forced to march to Barfiliya, never to return— have reverberated throughout my entire life. I live in Europe and my Israeli neighbor grew up in Barfiliya (present day Modi’in), though he had never heard of it. Last summer my cousins and I interviewed our oldest living relatives about some of the details of 1948 that had been just too painful for our parents to discuss while they were alive. We imagined that if the world understood how brutal the foundation of the ethno-nationalist state was, they would think twice about upholding its supremacist and separatist policies. Then October 7 occurred.

"....the war did not start on October 7th"- no truer words!

And what should concern us in the USA is that we are facing now serious threats to our freedom of speech and some of our civil rights as to peaceful protests that are suppressed by police force and even detention.

It is very important film. It takes down propaganda that was fed to people around the world that Palestinian left on their own because of war. I am an example of those who believe in it. Until now when the truth is finaly coming out.

as a Canadian but also Aboriginal I never paid that much attention to the middle east, that was a different world to me! when I started seeing the genocide I became interested it was the same familiar story of my Native ancestors, millions of my people were starved slaughtered unless the came to Christ most refused and so they tried to kill and starve them instead!
