U.S. Supreme Court Impacts Homeless in Sacramento, California

Carol Dutcher, homeless and recently swept from an encampment in Rio Linda talks about how she has no place to go and how a ticket only makes it harder for her to get housed because she has no way to even appear in court on June 28, 2024. Today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to uphold the power of governments to impose civil punishment for camping outside.

Homeless people over 55 need to be excempt from these laws. I have a lot of compassion for this person.

This breaks my heart. 100 years from now, they will look back on us in disgust for allowing people to be homeless - the same way we have disgust for those who used to tolerate slavery.

She has worked all of her life and she's not eligible for Social Security or other aid? We have no social safety net if we can't help someone like this woman.

If i was the person holding that camera she would be coming home with me. I could not walk off and leave her there.
