A lot of folks defending this claiming "the comics bring characters and variants back from the dead and do evil one off versions of heroes all the time this is on brand" without realising those very same practices that helped erode investment in and slowly kill the comics industry.

The problem I feel with this is doom wonāt feel like the real doom. Just an evil tony stark with magic abilities. Iām totally a fan of there being and evil tony but make it an ACTUAL evil tony stark. We want a definitive version of victor not a variant. WE WANT DOOM. Iām gonna still look forward to seeing how they do with this because if done properly it could work and make sense and be accepted but right now just feels weird.

One issue the MCU couldnt have helped was that the mainline movies and team ended. Its like when a sports team wins a Super Bowl or World Series and everybody is a free agent. But hollywood doesnt understand its fine to let things end. Ive been saying for a while now that anything after Endgame thats actually good is just a bonus.

Jeremy sarcastically anticipating Chris Evans as magneto and RDJ being Doom just made me think of Micheal Fassbender. He killed it as magneto and would have been perfect casting as Dr. Doom.

As Jeremy said, this feels desperate and, imo, a little sad that weāve reached the point where this is even seriously considered. The āreuseā of actors in Deadpool and Wolverine was a literal joke and it worked great, but this is just bizarre because itās not a joke.
