Ironman in Germany is with WTC Rules. The most independent races are with DTU rules and can sometimes set additions, eg the bottle in the suit was forbidden in Roth before others added the rule. Everyone, even Patrick Lange, expected the shoes were only allowed in this one year before the iaaf rule was integrated in the WTC and ITC rulebook. For some reason DTU has not added the rule yet and I have not seen anything explicitly for Roth.

Gotta love that work environment with the shorts and sandals hiding under the desk.

Anne Haug just decided it's useless to run for longer if you don't have to ;) Good luck everyone in Roth.

I live in Rockford, It's a pretty convenient location since we're in between Chicago, Madison and Milwaukee. The only issue is I don't know that we have enough hotels here.
  • No wonder James prefers Cheery mode. 😅 Thanks guys for running with this one.❤
  • I don't know about different rules from DTU and Ironman concerning shoes, but I can imagine, that the process of changing or adding rules in the DTU rulebook is a long one with many people, clubs and experts involved. So it might be some years until they react on new technical developements. e.g. disc brakes

Good for Challenge Roth. Making any kit or bike illegal is stupid. Allow the innovations continue and let's encourage manufactures to constantly improve tech!
  • Absolutely Agree about scrapping the uniform ‘T-100’ series in favour of a PTO ‘Pro Tour’ Series. By all means have T100 distance races (but only around 4-5) and include iconic races such as Roth, Escape from Alcatraz (although that is a bit on the short side, so maybe still run it at around the 100km distance but perhaps make the swim longer to compensate for the incredible currents). Dare I say it - why not add in a race at my favourite long course distance - 3km swim / 120km cycle / 30km run. Given the partnership with World Triathlon, why not use the annual Long Course WC race as a PTO Pro Tour race? Thinking ahead - if and when Ironman abandon Nice in favour of a full time return to Kona, why not doa deal with the Nice race organisers to bring back the original Nice Long Course race (over the 3-120-30km) distance on a permanent basis as part of the Pro Tour?

For fun imagen getting the olympic champions of the 3sport (swim, road bike, and marathon). Enter them into Kona and nice as a relay. There's a defo sub 7 and 8 without all the planning a year r 2 ago
