The game wasn't criticized for being bland when it came out. It was a breathe of fresh air because we didn't have a new 2d Mario in such a long time and people were saying it'll be a classic. The "New" Mario games did get repetitive around the wii u era

I just bought a DSI XL for super cheap last week! Might even did a thing with the SD card and the photos app, and now having a tons of fun with a bunch of games ove never played before
