It always amazes me to admire the focals in the background

I learned a couple tips; thanks Dunna. My tip: push the menu button. Then push the function button to cycle through submenus quickly. The scroll wheels, (shutter speed and aperture) will also navigate the menu system.

[Bonus tipps here] 1&2: But what about half pressing for focusing? I use that all the time. You can’t do that when you change it to record. Some (mostly a7iv) bonus tipps that I can think of: - You can record in Full Frame 120fps 1080p 4:2:2 with the a7IV. theres a video on YT - With apsc anamorphic lenses you can use clear image zoom to 1.3x instead of using Super 35 mode and get a wider field of view - You can remove the a7iv side door if it’s in the way if you use a cage and side handle, and use the a7siii tutorial on YT on how to remove it - Leave the flip out LCD open to avoid overheating. Mine still overheats and shuts off often - Setting a custom button so that it switches between lcd and viewfinder, to save battery. Reducing screen brightness and have a custom button to access that menu to turn on the extra bright “sunny weather” setting for outside. And also turning off that it switches to viewfinder when it detects something behind it, most annoying thing - Shooting photos in bursts of 2 pictures so that the second one is sharper in case the vibration of the shutter did affect sharpness of the first shot, which you maybe only ever know if you have a second photo to compare - Using apsc lenses like the sony E 16mm or 11mm for when you use 4K60 on the a7IV, as a “workaround” for the crop

I've had my A7IV for a Year and this was awesome!! thank you so much! the most useful was the settings saving from photo and video so i don't have to change me PP and ISO and all of that! greatly appreciated

My joystick button recenters the focus point. I actually like that. If you change your button, what do you set to reset the focus point back to center?
  • @andyk2456
Thanks so much! I was unaware of the rating options and the focus point on playback - these are very helpful!😁
  • @LyndonPatrickSmith

  • @ProductionsMJV

  • @lxapproduction
HOLY 💩, how come I not have seen the option of tip number 4 about for example PP not having to be kept for photos! Absolute gamechanger, and I will do this mod as soon as I get home. Are you sure this was implemented in the various versions of past Alpha cameras? I've been wanting to have this option for a long time... But it appears to have been there all the time 😅
  • @BrendanRVlogs
Tip 01 would have been really helpful for the Sony a6300 as the record button is really small and so inconvenient but this camera doesn't have that option but what it can do it program the c1 button next to the shutter button as the record button which works just as great. How to set the C1 button on the Sony A6300 1) Press the Menu Button 2) Go on the gear icon 3) Go to the 7th page 4) Select "Custom Key (Shoot.) 5) Select Custom Button 1 6) Look for MOVIE and select it. Hope this helps 🙏
  • @thearabicdp
I never knew about the rating one. That's a game changer. Thanks
  • @chrisleggat4668
I shoot both video and photo on my A7iv, I shoot in the S-Log 3 profile, and there is a gamma assist function which I assigned to one of the custom buttons to quickly see what the rec 709 converted image should look like, super helpful! Just make sure you turn it off when switching back to photo mode. Another tip would be to use the Custom mode preset dial, set one to 1080p 120fps, and keep the S&Q mode for 4k60.
  • @kevincheung2066
Ok I am so trying setting 11!!! That makes soooo much sense!! Often times I have to go into the Fn menu and set it from there, this is a game changer!!
  • @sideways6087
3:10 i agree, i mostly shot outside in the sun at 40 degrees at 4k 30 300mbps with the A7IV and i usually get it to record about 90 minutes before it gets too hot and turns itself off, but then i just put it in the AC of my car for 2-3 minutes and its good to go for another 90 minutes, my canon user friends cant even record for more then 10 minutes before their camera is dead, this is the main reason i went with a sony and i dont regret it at all

I like mapping a custom button be a "silent mode" toggle - when I'm doing street photography, event photography, or even when I'm just taking photos of someone who feels nervous having a camera pointed at them, I don't want the sound of the shutter to be distracting. The electronic shutter isn't great in all situations, but when it is and I can get away with it, I like being silent. Mapping the C4/trash can button to be an LCD/viewfinder toggle has been helpful, too. the auto-switching is always too sensitive for me.
