My mansion needs a new basement. Today I am attempting to build a water mitigation system, to prevent the basement from being wet, musty, and smelly. I shovel a lot of rock and dirt, pour concrete, calculate slope for drainage pipes, build a french drain, install a sump pump pit, and learn a lot along the way.

Hey Cole been watching you for years but my 73 year old father Vietnam vet that was drafted at 18 left the service after serving an extra 2 years with 2 purple hearts and a bronze star. He passed away yesterday when I showed him your project he loved the videos cause he was a construction worker his whole life. Thank you for giving my dad some relief before he passed... You are doing a great job on your house..

Applause for Justin and Roman! Your hard work has been impressive and so has your sense of humor! Cole, you someday you could be a teacher or a researcher.
  • I feel cheated, lol. That was the fastest 34 minutes I've ever seen. Seriously, to have friends like Justin and Roman is a Godsend. For them to assist on this massive project (even though I'm certain they are being well compensated), shows us what true friendship is. Couple that with your faith and the fellowship you guys are having during the workday is second to none. The three of you are making memories you will reflect on forever. I'm happy you are allowing us all to go on this adventure with you.
  • I am a long time subscriber and I am loving the house renovation. You can couldn’t find two better helpers than Justin and Roman.

Roman and Justin will always have income, as talented each is. Thank you, gentlemen, for your excellent work and for the humor~~~

10 years ago, my dad had an interior french drain installed in his basement and it has worked like a charm.

Cole, I can’t over state how lucky you are to have Justin and Roman as friends, not many people would work this hard for you. I hope you are paying them accordingly! I love the project but hope it doesn’t stress your friendship.

I love how throughly you guys are fixing all of the major things that cost a bunch yet no one sees. With all you guys are doing that house could stand for a very very long time. Great job guys. I look forward to these vlogs all the time. Thanks for taking us along for the journey. ❤

I have done many exterior French drains and quite a few basement drainage systems. We never use crushed limestone but instead rounded river rock or glacier Rock. The triangular shape of crushed stone compacts and does not allow as much water through. Rounded Rock doesn't compact and allows more pore space for water to get through. Also we use non pressure PVC pipe. Ribbed pipe can hold a little bit of water and may cause mold.

Hey Cole... Avoid a mistake I made. Get a lid in that sump basin ASAP - if you dont put the lid on to keep the perfect circle of the sump basin, the basin will deform as you put rock and concrete around it and the lid wont go on later. Even if it deforms like a 1/16 of and inch from a perfect circle ... the lid wont fit. Great cannel!
  • Amazing work by you three guys. I can't wait to see it fully renovated. Roman is a keeper a very hardworking all rounder.

You never know how important a basement is. I always thought of it as storage area. You are making the basement very usable.

We have a French drain system all the way around our house plus two sump wells. You will never regret doing g more than required when it comes to water mitigation!
  • @Mia-xu9zn
Most basement water proofing companies stopped using corogated pipe inside the house perimeter because they are breeding grounds for mold.\nThey changed to ridgid pvc w/holes poining down so the pipe never has water stuck in ribs
  • I am not a farmer, nor a home improvement person, but I am completely obsessed with your videos. I can't wait for the next video each time. Excited for the part where you are putting up drywall and making it a home.
  • You have a great team Cole, including yourself . All hard working men . God bless you all ,stay safe 😊
  • Way to go Roman & Justin , you two deserve more than a round of applause ….. tell Cole you want a BONUS!!!
