Mr. Bean was one of my favorite shows growing up, and I remember there being some medical moments along the way, so today I dove back into the work of Rowan Atkinson and the BBC to relive those childhood memories and assess just how accurate the medicine in Mr. Bean was. I didn’t just look at this live-action show either, spending the majority of my time watching the 1997 movie “Bean” as well as exploring the animated series for the first time. Surgery, defibrillators, x-rays, sutures, and Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, which you can read about here:

“What is a poorly?” Poorly is British slang for sick.
  • Rowan Atkinson originally conceived the idea for Mr Bean when he was studying at Oxford University for his Electrical Engineering Master’s degree.👍
  • @dangeiger9796
I’m sure the fact that they thought he looked like a doctor so they let him operate is 100% accurate

obviously we have to be learning while watching Mr Bean. Dr Mike is the only person I can think of who can make watching Mr Bean educational.

0:41 the way he said "esnestith" made me laugh out loud, it made him seem more like a doctor who knows what he's talking about 🤣

The doctor pulling out the sharpening rod for his scalpel has been the funniest joke I've seen in weeks.
  • @filipvadas7602

  • Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean literary transcended boundaries with his comedy - humorous in countries around the world regardless of culture and language. Comedic gold.

I love the fact that the entire OR team doesn't know who their surgeon is and randomly pulls strangers into the theater 😂
  • Let's not deny the fact that Mr. Bean did a very good job making our childhood awesome. Big respect to Rowan Atkinson.
