My husband was a viet nam veteran with two purple hearts. Served 20yrs. Now he standing next to god. We think about him every day and miss him alot.

If you have never been in the military you just can not understand how veterans feel towards other veterans. Thank you for your service!

Those guys get it. They were very honorable in doing that. A lot of our Vietnam vets were treated very badly when they got back home. It makes me love this country even more.

Extremely proud to have been a Marine in Vietnam and to know that five fellow Marines thanked that Navy Vietnam Veteran the way they did. Good ole American Vets.

Gets me every time... No one seemed to care in the 70s. As a matter of fact, we were less than appreciated. Now it seems like I'm always being thanked for my Service. Perfect timing...

We Veterans are a Family that Civilians will Never Understand. But are always Grateful for us!

I served a combat tour 70/71 in Nam. When I returned back to the US I had to take my uniform off in the bathroom to prevent demonstrators from harassing me. It’s never to late to thank a Nam vet for serving his/her country.

I am a Vietnam ERA vet. One of the worst times I've had was when a Vietnam vet spotted my cap and asked me where I was at and I told him, I wasn't "in country". Before I could explain he gave me a look of outright disgust that I will never forget. I tried to explain to him that I had volunteered twice to go but my Army MOS prevented that and I was assigned to other areas to serve. He apparently didn't believe me and again gave me a look of utter contempt then walked away. I was crushed! I served for right at nine years (1964-1973), lost high school classmates and several buddies that I had served with. My cap that I wear says Vietnam ERA vet. I do NOT claim to know what my fellow vets endured during that time. Stories I have heard just make me hate and despise Clinton, Clay and the other draft dodgers more and more every day. While I did not serve "in country" I feel that I am a part of that era and proud that I was serving at that time. Did it hurt to have another vet look down on me like that vet did? You have no idea. I am so glad those young Marines did what they did. Vietnam vets got a very raw deal from this country and America can NEVER repay them for what they endured when they came home. We were told to NOT wear our uniforms home after we transitioned out of San Francisco because it was not safe. That sucked! America made heroes out of Hanoi Jane, John Kerry and John "Canary" McCain but spit and cursed men that did their duty? I wear my cap, not in honor of the America I came home to, but honor the men that served during that era.

Tears brought to my eyes on this one. Marines & Navy go hand in hand.
