That "comissioner" needs to be fired from his job.

Absolutely ludicrous! Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves for treating a veteran this way 🇺🇲😡
  • It's not his country that did him wrong. It's the state of Tennessee that did him wrong.

The State appears to be completely incompetent.

Dear Sir, As a veteran of the USMC Under the Department of the Navy I salute you for your service. Thank you for being a great American citizen And an honorable person. May GOD be your ally and redeem your standing before the court of man.
  • Needs to go to the state dept to obtain a certificate of u.s . Citizen born abroad. As long as one birth parent is a US citizen, than the child is automatically a US citizen. I know this as my daughter was born in Germany at a us army hospital. Her birth is registered with the american state dept. .

If you grew up here, lived here 70 years, paid taxes, fought in the military, married and had a family, then the state of Tennessee can take a flying fuck.

Sounds like an uninformed DMV worker using their power to make someone’s life miserable.
  • I'm disgusted that this veteran was treated like he was. He needs to contact the governor and his senators as well.

If I worked there and found this out, I would have kept my mouth shut and gave him his license.

Disgraceful treatment of a Veteran. Gross civil rights violation.

How are there not multiple lawyers volunteering to help this man? This is the type of man that helped build America

My uncle went to the same thing when he was stationed in Germany when his youngest daughter was born. He/US Embassy had to fight with the German/Government to declare my niece was an American Citizen and NOT a German Citizen. After about 6 months of this just before he was to come back to the US, the German government dissolved his daughter's German Birth Certificate and finally gave my uncle his daughter's US born birth certificate.

The state isn't the bad guy. You have to provide proof of citizenship or legal residency for real id. It looks like his parents just never reported the birth aboard. If you are born aboard(Canada here), your parents have to submit a "Consular Report of Birth Abroad" which shows you got citizenship at birth. At which point you will be issued a US birth certificate. This was true when he was born. If this was not done then you must submit an application with your foreign birth certificate and proof of citizenship for your parents(you can request their birth certificate). This isn't to give you citizenship which you got through your parents but to get proof of citizenship and it won't take years.
