The Doctor has lost, his ageless enemy reigns supreme, and a shadow is falling over creation. Nothing can stop the devastation... except, perhaps, one woman.

  • Well that was on hell of a season and WHO IS MRS FLOOD?! Please do not insult those that like the episode when you don't or don't like it when you do. Comments like this will be removed as we can be better than that (I've seen this too much around this show lately). You can watch the full length, unedited commentary on Patreon alongside other exclusive content: www.patreon.com/shelma32 I hope you all enjoy the reaction!

Explaining The Snow: the Time Window makes memories real. Then they rode a memory TARDIS into the time vortex but they were still connected to the window. Ruby’s memory of snow was projected into the vortex and appeared at various points in her timeline. The time window also explains how she was able to project herself back in time in 73yards.

Has been a joy watching this with you! We are confirmed to have Ruby in Season 2, there's more to her family's story. Anita Dobson, who plays Mrs. Flood, has confirmed we will learn a lot more about Mrs Flood next Season.

Your reaction to Mrs Flood at the end was priceless; same! Ruby's birth mother being an ordinary person was exactly what I was hoping for, I was so happy, and the scene of them reuniting was beautifully done. I loved this episode, but I'm really impatient for more, now! Thanks so much for all your wonderful reactions ❤.

I loved this episode so much. Sobbed all through the end

MY theories for this weeks ep... We know Ruby's story is not done. Though I do think RTD dropped the ball in communicating that leaving people frustrated. MY takeaways... Ruby herself has a perception filter as hinted in dialogue. Why did the Doctor not want Ruby to talk to her mother (out of character). Is she really Ruby's mother or is a plot a foot. Is Ruby's father related ot Mad Jack (Ap Gwilliam (of William) Her father's name is William. With the reveal that 73 yards is the range of a perception filter when it becomes more apparent that old Ruby (Jack's Herald) wasn't telling people terrible things, she was showing them terrible things, they all look directly at Ruby before they freak out. Does standing at the very edge of the perception filter cause it's effect to sort of glitch and you see what's really real? Finding Ruby's mother was far too easy, and none of Maestro or Sutekh's dialogue work if she is just some random teen mom. For a few scenes I was almost convinced UNIT set up a fake mom just to make Ruby stop looking for now

She's Susan's mother out for revenge for the kidnapping of her daughter.

I love that you understood and embraced the idea of Ruby's mum being ordinary. It shows how as humans, we build up mysteries with these astronomical answers when in reality it's anything but.
  • @BennyFireKing
With how Sue Triad was created by Sutekh, it makes me feel Harriet lived too after but maybe didn't want to stick around and just get away and find herself after what she went through. Maybe not but could go either way for now.

I have a theory about Mrs. Flood. I will try to explain without any spoilers. Suffice it to say from what you have already seen, the Doctor explained reasons for regeneration to Ruby and there were TWO provided. Something in one of those reasons was echoed by something Mrs. Flood said in the very same episode. Also, Mrs. Flood seems to start to remember things only after she sees the TARDIS in action (and then definitely has knowledge of what a TARDIS is). Mrs. Flood also seems rather clever and has clearly worked out certain things like "he waits no more" and to avoid a situation that has nothing to do with what she is here for. I would also remind that the Doctor looks at the camera and winks (and even in classic Who you have seen him already break the fourth wall). Now, this next one is really somewhat subjective, but I'm not convinced that Mrs. Flood is a villain. Her comments and delivery of them might seem a bit strange and alien but at the end of the day have we really seen her do anything bad to anyone? I mean, refusing to make someone a cup of tea? Oooh when will this villainy end? The outfit that is worn in the final scene (or one nearly 100% identical as far as I can tell) has been worn by someone in the Doctor's past (please... no one else tell Shelma who wore it or when because she hasn't reached that point in classic Who and I'm deliberately leaving this out but if you know, you know who I'm thinking about). The outfit could be a complete coincidence, but it would be a rather big coincidence (🤔 do I hear goblins on my roof? Perhaps). Of course, RTD also loves to throw misleading things into his stories just to mess with fans so... my theory could be entirely wrong. I will only say that if my theory is correct I will be quite excited when Mrs. Flood eventually reveals her true identity because I have long wanted this character to return. And if I'm wrong, well… I will be a bit disappointed but will probably be excited anyway about the reveal and that RTD got me with this one.

I have to say I've really enjoyed this season of Doctor Who and your reactions (and reactions from other open-minded people) to it. RTD seems to really go for the emotion of the moments and sometimes to get there the explanation is a bit rough (I am laughing just a little here in the same way the Doctor laughed about the time window - but not too often). It is what it is and, when you look at it that way, RTD really delivered on what he does best and what I expected him to do and that is magnificent (mostly). While this leaves little nagging details sometimes that I'm not entirely satisfied with (there are other writers who do that better than RTD), it has been so fun to watch this season and I felt the season just got better and better all the way through. There has been valid praise and valid criticism and it has been fun to see the reaction videos. There have been thoughtful comments about stories that make us think about the meanings and it is always fun to see how various reactors interpreted them and the similarities and differences to my own thoughts after watching the episodes. I really like that about Doctor Who stories and always have. Thanks for doing the reactions.

Yeah, when it was over, I thought, "With all the 'specialness' Ruby showed earlier in the season, she can't just have 'normal' parents." 🤨 ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ And they never explained the 73 Yards stuff, even though there were several callbacks as she randomly remembered some things from that time. Did Ruby jump to a different timeline, or did the Doctor really disappear from it as I thought while watching it? How was Ruby able to project herself into her past to 'fix' the timeline as she knew it? What scared people off with old Ruby? Why did we see that future PM on the screen inside the Memory TARDIS? So many questions still in the Ruby story...

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this season of DOCTOR WHO. This season was far superior than the Jodie Whittaker/Chris Chibnall Era. After an underwhelming and disappointing opening episode of the season. The series got better and better as the episodes progressed. Wasn’t it brilliant that the incredible Gabriel Woolf reprised his role as Sutekh? I got bloody chills when I heard his voice which is so distinctive. He’s 91 years old. Absolutely amazing his voice hasn’t changed! I was 13 years old when PYRAMIDS OF MARS was broadcast in 1975.

I do understand the hate a LITTLE bit. If you get overfed with fanservice these days, people expect that a mysterious character could be a special person like susan or trickster or something like that. People are not used to ordinary things anymore in tv shows. The power of the ordinary is unknown to most of them. Therefore they hoped there is really something sepcial happening with the mother as this was hinted throughout the season. What they do not get is the message: The power of believe that something ordinary can be special to other people and that Sutekh was so much afraid that somebody could rival his power. This fear wanted to let him now who she is. And this was his weak point I enjoyed this episode a lot and find it to be peak doctor who. The best who since Series 9 in fact :D
  • I've enjoyed the series , although the first couple were a bit iffy . There have been some really good episodes with intriguing ideas and RTD has teased us with echoes of series past . Ruby , proved not to be impossible with mum and dad being human and I loved the idea that Ruby seeking her made her all important . The memory Tardis was a nice touch . The finale was spectacular , cheesy , mysterious and wonderful in equal measure . Judging by the outfit Mrs Flood is heading for the Christmas special and it leaves plenty of loose ends for that and in future , I've enjoyed hearing your thoughts and theories on all the episodes and look forward to the Christmas special .
