If you're planning to continue your Doctor Who journey, please don't let anyone ruin your enjoyment of it with comments like "oh this particualar season is really bad, just skip it" etc., always best to just go in with an open mind cus we all have different opinions anyways

Definitely start at S01 E01 (Rose). You’ll have the best time with it, so so so many great moments!
  • @aidanlau390
Like everyone else has said definitely start with Series 1 (2005), it’s the beginning of the revival and ran for 13 seasons and leads into the first 3 Disney+ specials from last year. I can’t wait to see your thoughts on the rest of the show! I’d love it if you still did Doctor Deep Dives to try and figure out the mysteries in the earlier seasons before they’re revealed!
  • @heyroxyee
as soon as Rose got wiped i knew this thing was reversable. Doctor might survive Sutekh but he's not surviving Rose's mom's rage

So, the show is split up into 3 eras, plus a movie. ● 1963-1989 ("Classic Who") ● "Doctor Who: The Movie" ● 2005-2023 ("New Who", or "Modern Who") ● 2023-Present day (Some call it "Disney Who" due to them giving money for marketing and production, and the show restarting the number count for distribution on Disney+. Could also call it "Refreshed Who") The renewing of the show starting in 2005 is probably the best place to continue, so you have the bulk of where a lot of people have experienced and loved the show. But there are select stories in Classic Who that you could also watch to get a feel for the previous versions of the Doctor. Edit: Admittedly, the term "New Who" doesn't work so much now with a second new start, so the term "Revival Era" could better describe 2005, and call the newest one "New".

The whole universe was destroyed, my reaction: "No! No the Oods!!".

excellent review, and welcome to this crazy family of fandom . I was lucky enough to see some of the filming for this and meet Ncuti Gatwa, he is a lovely person and then was able to watch it in the cinema last night, it was amazing, there were so many lovely moments alongside the main story , as for where to start watching thats a hard one , there's so many episodes, and i love most of them though i do think the 2005 revival might be a more straight forward starting point as it gently guides new viewers into the history witout needing to know any back story and feeds in the history of the show gently, looking forward to your future reviews and remember the one rule of fandom which is Ignore anyone who claims there are rules

I think we can now agree, the Scottish Doctors are the best Doctors.

I think the “Penzance” sticker on Mrs. Flood’s suitcase may be a significant clue to her identity. Penzance is a town in Cornwall, but in the ancient Cornish language “Penzance” translates to “Holy Headland”. The area also has odd folklore, including an Arthurian legend about a place near Penzance called Lyonesse- a land that sank into the sea in a single night. She’s definitely a deity of some sort, but who knows what big plans she has in store? Only time will tell! ALSO! An anagram of “Mrs. Flood” is “Old Forms” 🤔

You are my favourite reactor for Doctor Who and that is no mean feat because Blind Wave are fantastic. Cannot wait for more reactions of the older stuff.
  • he took the dog god for a murder walk with the TARDIS... love this episode
  • @marcdipaolo
You are SO much more fun to share Who with than longtime fans. You have the joy of this show I felt when I discovered I loved it in the 80s during Colin Baker season 1: a widely panned era I have a soft spot for.
  • @DigiRangerScott
This break between seasons, if you do any catchup is going to be a great exercise in finding out everything that happened to the TARDIS that Sutekh was hilariously and unknowingly present for
  • @just_martin8002
Don't listen to people saying that this season is trash cuz it's really not, and I would also recommend watching New Who from it's revival in 2005 where people usually start ;)
  • @TheMoonRover
I'd recommend starting from the 2005 series 1, maybe throwing in the odd classic here and there. Given that you've just met Sutekh, perhaps it's worth watching Pyramids of Mars from classic season 13 (1975). You can just watch (almost) any random classic story like that.
  • @ReadingOne
Okay, but seriously, the sheer agony in the Doctor’s screams when he’s blaming himself for the death of the universe breaks my heart.
  • @TheMoonRover
And yeah, every planet mentioned (except Venus and Vox) has appeared at some point since 1963.
  • @WiccanRai
I really loved the scene where Ruby met her mum. My reaction was held back because i was in the cinema, but it was so touching. My jaw dropped when Kate became dust😢. As others have said, starting with the New Who from 2005 is a good place to start/continue.
