Barrington Tops - 4wding Barrington Trail - Campgrounds - HGT explored

Barrington Tops National park NSW. For months now the girls have been begging me to take them camping, thanks to Covid lock downs this hasn’t been possible.

After having a week of rain we decided to take the risk and check out the Barrington Tops. Unfortunately it ended up raining and was freezing. This didn’t stop us from exploring and having a good time.

We checked out the Firs pine forest, some of the awesome campgrounds. Polblue campground, Little Murry campground and the Junction Pools.

The Barrington Trail was open so we decided to check it out. As far from a hard 4wd track as you can get, but still a good drive for the scenery and destinations.

  • I went for a look down Little Murrays and Junction Pools in late Feb this year and I was about the same weather as you had. It was absolutely stunning being up there and amongst the clouds. I'm sure it also beautiful in the sunlight and in the snow although that trail is closed then.
  • That bush with yellow flowers is Scotch Broom, an invasive pest plant on Barrington Tops.
  • That looks completely different compared to when it is covered in snow. It's awesome up there though.

Hey, why was your tire pressure warning light solidly lid on your dash? (3:00)

Looks great. Do you think a Prado with stock AT tyres would get through that mud OK? Could you get out with MaxTrax or is it more of a winch/recovery gear type of track dependant on how much rain there is? Keen to take my little one but don't want to get stuck on his first adventure
