  • I gotta say, as someone who is digging into the content creators in the eve sphere. You are like, miles ahead of everyone else.
  • i was there ; here's what was related to me : cyvok waited out his aggro and logged at a deep safe , no probes on scan . bob used a game mechanic of ecm' ing the wrecks created by cyvok's dd . this gave him a hidden aggro timer , preventing his ship disappearing from space. bob then probed him down . ascn pilots told cyvok on oog comms that his titan was still in space . cyvok logged back in as bob pilots coming out of warp tackled him ...

Was in system for the loss of steve. If i remember right a ccp ship hit cyvok with some ecm, target painter or something, to force a log timer to keep him in place while bob formed up. Then there was something about hidden mechanics about wreck aggro timers, logging out thinking he was safe while an off screen timer forced the ship to stay on grid so bob could jump in Its not like they didn't have form, there were 4 or 5 documented cases if ccp directly helping bob out that i knew of, teleporting fleets, bpos, moon minerals, steve, probably a lot more i never heard about.

Man, that was a bitter pill when Steve died. I was in the ASCN at the time. Specifically, the Celestial Fleet, the PvP-centric part of the alliance. We built the each of the 4 "new" (in 2005) racial outposts (player-built space stations). We built Steve. But in the end, when your alliance heavily leans towards industrialists, it's hard to fight a hard-core PvP alliance. Especially one where CCP was literally cheating in their favor. At the time, it was much harder to get T2 gear. CCP was over there giving them BPOs for it. I guess the bright spot was that CCP developed an... internal affairs group to watch for this sort of thing.
  • wasn't T1 frigate rifter BPO , was T2 interdictor sabre BPO that T20 spawned in ... big difference .

"Warlocks were the way to go" YES! Played one for years. By far my favorite class. And to date myself, I played a Necromancer in Everquest ;-) Enjoyed this stream! Thx for the content!! -Bozzi

I've been playing EVE for a couple years and I still find the culture around killmails Wild. I find it bizarre a kill or killmail can be considered something you could steal.
  • here's a last little nugget 😊 B0B and ccp devs were on good terms as bob helped so much on the test server .. when null-sec opened CCP helped bob move there BY TELEPORTING THEIR WHOLE ALLIANCE TO DELVE ..

100% went through the exact same experience with WoW's first expansion... then EvE caught me and I have been on and off EvE ever since.

ya know how Nintendo drops amazing almost bug-free games (yes yes for a different audience, but their quality control is next level....) It's because they make every single person on the team play through the game they are developing. It should be something all game devs do.

Was in BOB before it was BOB. People forget or just didn't know the members of bob were vary pro eve and always testing for the best way to play. while i believe all major groups had direct lines to the devs i am confident that bob was the most active in identifying bugs and exploits leading too bob having a greater number of devs per capita than any other alliance. The first Titian kill happen while i was offline but i vaguely remember from a post battle report that our guy was able to just get the titan on scan from either a moon or his own deep safe. The assumption was cyvok logged out thinking he was safe, and our guy was able get aggro just before it was too late. When cyvok made claims of cheating it was generally dismissed as him trying to stop the cascade failure that was starting with outrage and hide that he f'd up. i do recall some pointing out that there was a windows update that day so if someone forgot to turn off auto update... that would be the right time for him. the BPO thing was a bad situation that really disappointed our guys. all i know about the dev that did it was the forum post where he explained that he had been testing using his normal research character to make sure his dev client didn't hide bugs. thanks to far to many hours on eve and far too little sleep he crashed and forgot what he had been doing, days or weeks later when he checked the char for the normal research results jackpot. Given that the logistics guys had already gotten several great BPOs, the leaderships constant efforts against exploits, and that the guy wasn't fired i believed the post. The hacker was a far more interesting story the guy thought himself a super spy in rl, that was trying to use the eve player base as test subjects for his social engineering theories. his first came to BOB leadership with hacked forms of several groups we were fighting the offer was flatly rejected and he was reported. Besides being well within bobs rl skill base bob had a hard rule that spying was done thought the game, toons joined and were granted access some even became members of leadership to help people to organize descent fights. Pissed he turned to our foes and set up a situation that was going to piss some people off but with that devs mistake started an uproar that finally got a proper organized fight going.
