From Big City Living To Multi-Million Dollar Regenerative Farm (Freedom Farms)

Published 2024-07-12
Dana and Lauren had an accomplished professional career in New York City. When they were looking for a property out in the country they saw a business opportunity they could not pass up. They now raise beef cattle, pork, and chickens on pasture using regenerative farming techniques. They sell their meat products online and ship nationwide!

I love the idea of his marketing and helping other farms with selling products. Really is what most if not all small farms need help with and he's on point with marketing I see his adds all the time.
  • Loved that she gave God credit For His Amazing Creation ❤. What a great interview !

Glad to hear more of their story than what Greg Judy had on his channel, what we learned there in July of 2023 at Greg's class at Freedom Farm, and what Dana and Lauren have shared on their YT channel. Thanks for asking what you did!

I absolutely loved this interview. I, like you Dana, have lived my life in 5-10 year blocks. I moved through an educational career from high school teacher to college administrator. Now, at 70, I am pursuing my last block in life (retirement isn't biblical) in pastured (egg layers, pigs, and meat chichkens) farming. Currently looking for 50 acres in north Alabama for the longer season. This interview was so encouraging and addressed my critical issues, specifically the internal competition (How can I do it better?). Thanks to Dana and Lauren!

Such a surprisingly great outlook from what we would normally call “city folk”. Way to break the stigma and get after it!!!

I loved this interview. Such a message of validation, positivity, try and the can do attitude. It can be hard to do when surrounded by the opposite, but these two have a lot of it figured. I mean in 3 years to go to 3 - 4 million in sales...that's impressive. Sure they are in a prime location, but still! Very impressive ! Very riveting interview. Well done.
  • @pazbrewin
That was a great interview, totally different outlook and goals but same love and passion that a first or long time farm would have. Those two have a good balance, focus and inspiration. I feel like they need to hold farming church to uplift and rejuvenate us all at least once a week. 🙏💯😎

Another great interview and how you know all the right questions to ask ! I love how people are honest about trusting in God its so inspirational ❤️

Totally agree. Compete with myself only. For years I've lived this way and I believe it works best

I’m wired like this guy. Businesses are made to be grown and sold. He said he’s keeping the farm, and even if he isn’t, more power to him. Even if they have a slew of kids, usually they want to go to the city in their younger adult years.
  • Ugh!! I wish they lived in Missouri! We love farming but hate the marketing! We have the products just have the hardest time getting to the people.
  • Love seeing all the different farms. Keep doing what yall doing. Plus their farm is 20 to 25 minutes from me lol
  • @heidiDonato
i heard of this farm was fun listening to them say they sell beef but had no idea what was involved .
  • @toddmcclure9848
Very true people do not understand their time. I calculate it cost 22 to raise a pasture chicken with labor and organic corn soy free feed

LOL, at the top of any trade you are your own competitor. First you may compete against a neighbor, the next step is a guy you meet at a state or national ag day meeting. Then you realize it's your previous year you should focus on. At the top it's an amazing ride.

"A city called Binghamton" ... Spoken like a true NY City person.
  • @mitchellaoliver
3 or 4 million dollars by processing 10-20 cows? Sounds like he is selling someone else's cattle 🤔
