Good morning. Solid week, Andy. Don´t Worry . Here is my Like. A nice weekend for everyone.
  • Quick comment on power, I've used a Stryd pod for years, a big benefit is you can get your pace from the pod as well as power, so no reliance on GPS for speed / distance 😁
  • We never realsied 'Andrew' was your at home name 😀. Excellent video conparing both sessions a year apart.

Andy are you training yourself over summer? No Will for the moment?
  • @jollyroger1009
The Canadian geese. We have them in NZ as well. Literally the world over for those guys.
  • Andy, A couple of things you have spot on. The first is not to fall into the trap of two sessions on a race week, as the race is your second session! The second thing is, if you are doing timed efforts, pace is irrelevant, consistent effort and change of pace counts more. I wouldn't even take a Garmin out on those sessions as it looks like the data is unreliable. Do you have a measured loop you can use to gauge distance instead?
  • a wise human once said....not all simple things are great, but all great things are simple in the long run, running on feel donates more joy, health benefits, longevity as a runner, peace pf mind than any technical device
  • Hi Andy, you ever thought about buying a wheel and marking some distances . Like every 100m up to a K and then the mile and a 2k ? Like having a track in the trails .

Hi Andy, the newer Garmin models have power meters built in. So if you had a spare £500 (!!!) knocking around, you could upgrade and then you’d have your extra data source without having to buy any other kit. I recently upgraded to the Garmin Epix 2 and it’s interesting to see the data, I don’t do anything with it, but as you said, it just helps for comparison purposes

Fod Runner wouldn't worry about your speed... still a good runner

It just started to get hot here too and my HR today on the long run was about 7-8 beats higher than the last time I did one on a cooler day. It sucks!
  • Look at the relative effort though mate, much higher last time, so probably where the difference was.

Obviously you've also had 2 or 3 periods of illness so far this year. You may be "slower" but you're on the way back up.
