I have family in Maine and have been looking at land up there to retire to but I live in Virginia. I will warn you that while you own the power pole and wires from the road to your domicile realize any repairs required if say a tree falls on it will fall to you. Also you are in Maine where to use a Southern expression most folks are "fixing to" get stuff done. Not a lot of sense of urgency but really good folks. It takes a while to make a friend in Maine but once you do it is for life. Best wishes in your new spot.
  • Can't wait to see what you do with it...Thinking you are in for some great fun times!! Congrats!
  • Hilarious, you two are a hoot! Greatly appreciate the video, the wife and I are in the process of doing the same thing. We’ve been looking for that perfect place in Maine online and finally have it down to a few properties to call on and hopefully schedule a trip to go see before we purchase. Also out of state buyers. I gave ya a thumbs up and subbed your channel, looking forward to seeing more updates, thanks again.

You two are so much fun! Thank you for sharing your journey to the island life! All the best to you and the new Homestead! (set back some funds in case your electric lines go down.) Welcome to the snow! AND the snow shoes!

Welcome to Maine. Laid back is very true. I moved from a area of low crime but here in Aroostook when to pull up to a grocery, mall etc. and most of the vehicles are running with no one in them, you know you're in a different environment. P.S. ditch that Oregon hoodie.

I'm In Portland, Oregon and planning to move to Maine next summer.I'm glad I found you guys here. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  • It's beautiful wonderful tough and real living☺️ I grew up there, and it's the kind of place where most kids are bored and can't wait to leave and see the better bigger world, but then realize what a beautiful wonderful place they left behind and end up back home🙏 You must really like all four seasons though, to be happy there. Good luck with your Maine life!
  • Thank you! Very helpful advice. We are in the process of moving from Idaho to Maine (formally from Oregon) and will soon be placing an offer. You should do an update to let us all know how things are going. Cheers!
  • I've been looking at Maine for some time now. I'm so glad that your channel came up. I "liked" and subbed to your channel.
  • Ok, you two are HILARIOUS. I've lived in Oregon my entire life (40 years) and the hubs and I are thinking of moving to Maine. Thanks so much!

Hope all is well. We bought a house and land there in November. We had very much the same experiences. The tax thing blew my mind, but the fact that neither sellers showed up to the closing I drove 7 hours to be at was a real eye opener! Well, it's all good and can not wait to get there this spring. Maybe we will cross paths one day.

Good information, my wife and I are traveling to Maine in a few weeks to look for a summer home, we are a little further west than you are so it’s gonna be a little challenging
  • Going to subscribe to you very interested in buying a house in Maine. I grew up in Washington now live in Upstate New York 66 and now looking for land.

We are in Massachusetts and have been looking for a homesteading area with little to no restrictions (except for the septic system),any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I just stumbled upon this channel, glad that I did as well as subscribed. Looking forward to hearing about your journey.
  • So that is very unusual real estate transaction. We have purchased 3 homes and sold two in Maine. Although we are Maine residents so I didn’t know about the 2% for out of state buyers. All my closings we same day at a title office or bank. Welcome to Maine.
