I'm not much of a react Andy, but ‪@KingBoo97‬ asked me to react to his Ninji speedrun compilation video. Check it out here:    • My Ninji Speedrun Compilation (Best N...

Some notes from KingBio about the video:

“The pause at the end of Ninji #12 was intentional and it benefits from the thing Nintendo did with the pauses after Balloon Race to prevent pause buffering (basically, if you pause, it will not register any inputs for the next half a second or so after unpausing). So because you need to wait for a little bit at the end to not outrun the cannonball, pausing there was found to be somewhat consistent (other options were just to turnaround briefly or to not run for a little bit). At Ninji #13, there were actually 2 more 10-Coins gotten: one with the explosion of the bomb at the end of the first section, and the one at the first half of the subworld when I throw the shell later and it goes back to get a few coins and that 10-Coin far away. That one is basically impossible to notice by just watching it.”

Thanks a lot Panga! I'm sorry for not explaining many specific things and strats of these runs in the video. Originally I wanted to do it but it was going to take a lot of work since there are a lot of details on each Ninji, so I decided to just show the runs. One thing is that at Ninji #12, in the 21.429 run, the pause is actually intentional to "setup" the jump into the cannonball. The reason is: pausing there slows you down a little bit, just enough so that you won't be too fast. If you just hold right there you'll barely outrun the cannonball. The other option was just to do a brief turnaround or just not run for a little bit, but that pause (which works because pause buffering was "patched" after the Balloon Race ninji) seemed to be more consistent, and Warspyking found that. Another thing is that at Ninji #13, there are actually 2 more 10-Coins gotten other than the one at the end of the subworld, but they are hard to realize. One is at the end of the first section: when the bomb explodes, the explosion gets the 10-Coin there. At the subworld, when I throw the shell and it goes back, it gets some coins and the 10-Coin at the beginning of the subworld. This one is basically impossible to notice if you don't know it, and that strat was found by Dollamenu.

I really wish instead of ending Ninjis they implemented some kind of automated system where one popular level was picked to be the Ninji level every week and they kept the leaderboards running.

Actually Mr Streamer the graphs you said are skewed right are in fact skewed left. The direction of skew is the side with the longer tail, not the clump.

Galaxy easily has one of the best OSTs so having it in the background increased by enjoyment tenfold. Glad to see Panga agrees

Ninji ending is one of the worst things that could've happened.

These were always so much fun to watch the SMM community solve and compete. Kinda sad they're finished.

Really interesting to see how different strategies got implemented and improved over time on those Ninjis, props to all the runners!

Headgear hustle was my favorite level to watch. It was amazing seeing people all come up with different strats as to what order they should collect the red coins. Seeing the progression in starts and the techniques with all the headgears being used; unlike the “power up party” level. Headgear hustle is such an unique level compared to the usual hold right and for that reason I find it to be the perfect ninji speedrun.

Watching speedruns makes it clear to me that while they and I are playing the same game, we're not really playing the same game.

Every speedrun of levels with the cat suit always looks like Celeste movement

this was very nostalgic for me because my first panga content was watching him do the ninja runs

Whenever panga is off the upload schedule I lose my sense of reality
  • 17:22 they actually do get the 10 coin there, but its hard to see, I guess the bob-bomb actually collects it when it explodes

loved this one! it was also a nice retrospective on the ninji levels. i enjoyed watching you play through them the first time, so getting you to talk about all of then again in one go gave some nice perspective
