We are back in China with another 144-HR visa free transit.
This time, we travel to Xi'An, China for Chinese New Year!!!
Xi'An is the oldest city in China. So we were hoping to join the festive Spring Festival celebrations.
But many people on our comment sections are warning us not to visit China during the Chinese New Year because travelling in China is a nightmare during this holiday season. And many cities will become like a ghost town. But we really want to see what China is like during the new year. So we flew to Xi'An to find out.

Travelling to China was not what we expected. China surprised us!
Is China dangerous? Is China safe? What's China really like? Check out our vlog!

I would like to visit China and Asia in general because I have never traveled outside of Europe and once in Egypt. Beautiful city, culture, everything is different than here. Big greetings from Serbia to people in China. And happy new year to you. :_serbia:

To come back to China 4 times in such a short period of time really tells you how great that country is to live and travel in.

Historically Xi’an has always had a large Muslim population. It’s a major hub on the Silk Road and centuries of trading with the Middle East has resulted in the exchange of spices and religion! :)
  • That candy you bought was honey, malt, grains mixed candy, which is actually quite natural and traditional. It tends to give you a mouth-hurting feeling because it's very dehydrated and sweet and will suck all the water in your mouth. In old times, people would give their kids some candy chips to keep the kids quiet(because it's very sticky), but if some kids were too greedy, and ate too much, their mouths would hurt, and the candy would taste bitter due to the grains.

Most people will stay at home, celebrate Chinese new year with family, almost same way people in the west celebrate Christmas and thanksgiving, it’s time to enjoy family gatherings

Taxi fare of 119 yuan from the airport which is actually located in another city 60km away is very decent. Local price.

Xi'an (historic Chang'an) is the ancient capital for 13 of China's dynasties including some of the earliest. Hence youi have all the "princess" there. Most of the Tang poetry, classic story and uncountable historic event took place here. President Xi Jing Ping once said something to the point that you want to see modern China, go to Shanghai; China a couple of centuries ago, go to Beijing, to see China a thousand years ago, go to Xian.

12'07 - it's maltose candy. It is nature food. Eating too much hard/sharp candy dries your mouth out and causes the lining to become slightly inflamed
  • @bananaana1860
I really want to convey how grateful I am for you guys, your effort to upload and film and travel in my country really warms my heart. Thank you for showing so many people my home country!

“Gung hay fat choy” is Cantonese pronunciation for 恭喜发财,in mandarin it is Gong Xi Fa Cai, same word same meaning just different pronunciation. It means wish you good fortune. It’s a common new year greeting generally used across China. The Cantonese version prevails in Canada because most of North America Chinese have ancestors coming from Guangdong. Happy new year!
  • @Vinyay2130
The traditional building you saw in the middle of roundabout is a drum/bell tower. Classic Chinese cities all have them, you probably have seen them in Beijing as well. They’re used to report time, bell for dawn and drum for dusk

15:55 That yellow honey taste solid stuff should be a traditional street sugar snack called 老糖 (old sugur, honeycomb toffee). It is made of barley malt(maltose), millet, corn, pear, wild bee honey. Ingredients are melted stirred and cooled to solid state. It is not likely to be synthetic cause that will be more expensive and should not be a tourist scam either because it is mostly sold to locals. The burning taste may come from the honey or ginger in it. And it shouldn't be eaten too much. In our childhood a small piece goes a long way. Anyway don't worry.
  • @jrwkd6114
15: 26 candies are natural maltose, but after repeated pulling and pulling, the maltose will burst into bubbles and become very brittle. The discomfort in your mouth is caused by the prickles produced by honeycomb treatment😂

You must go to The wild Goose Pogoda and The Grand Tang Mall (大唐不夜城or you can translate it as Grand Tang Never night City)at night !The night view is incredible!
  • As a North American, I really appreciate how and friendly you are as a visitor. And the local people seem really wonderful. Really makes me want to visit Xi'an!
  • @nicky12951
What Ivana said about Dragon is the best in Chinese zodiac is right. Since Dragon is the only fantasy animal in Chinese zodiac and it was the symbol of the Chinese emperor in traditional culture.
