What are the origins of the Europeans and do they really belong to a single "race"? Today we'll be looking at the genetic evidence behind the evolution of the indigenous people of Europe and how they've become the modern nations and phenotypes we see today.

Many of the reasons for the diverse phenotypes, genetics, languages and cultures of the modern European continent will be explored today, even stretching back thousands of years. Additionally, we'll be going over a brief overview of the European diaspora worldwide and how this has affected the definitions of the White or European race. Thanks for watching!

If you consider that rape was one of most common spoils of war and Europe history of almost constant warfare my bet is that genetically we are all similar

In the preview, the “Russian” clearly has a non-Russian appearance. This is more likely some kind of Caucasian, in the sense of a resident of the Caucasus region: Chechen or Georgian, etc. I noticed that often in Western films, etc., Russians are portrayed as black-haired, with hooked noses, etc., but this is not a typical appearance for Russians.

So according to the US, Sudanese are white and spaniards no... haha
  • I am Spanish. My daughter went to USA a couple of years ago and had to state her "race" in one form. She was absolutely puzzled by the question as she had never wondered which race she belongs to.

Wow! Fascinating. And densely packed with data. I will have to watch this all over again and maybe another time after that. Well done!

It's slightly worrying how so many Americans are obsessed with races.

I guess it is good that we like to insult each other based on nationality in Europe rather than race xD It makes more sense

5:40 Is there any source that I can check? None of the sources that I've checked says Tatars and Chuvashs had spoken a Indo-European language.
  • Can you do a video on Celtic Nordic Germanic and ethnic groups of Europe , ?
  • "And I think it's a shame that race and ancestry became such a loaded and sensetive subject" Amen to that

People don't like the word "race," but they shut their mouths about the word "phenotype." It's curious.
