Artillery fires shells - not bullets. Being 'shot at' by artillery is referred to as being shelled.

When I was in the Marine Corps, we were shooting 155mm & 203mm rounds & powder which was made during the 1960's for the 155mm & 1950's for the M203mm rounds. It was a very sad day when the Pentagon decided to retire the M110 8" self propelled howitzers, which a lot of the Marines, including myself, loved. We could move all over the battlefield & fire from a static site or we could roam all over & fire from slap shot positions. These howitzers were capable of firing a RAP round 30KM inside of a garbage can. That was done by the precision sights. That kind of precision has not been able to be achieved even with the M777 155mm RAP round. Also the 8" howitzers were capable of firing nuclear rounds. I know this to be a fact since I went through a class at Norfolk Naval base on how to arm & disarm a nuclear artillery round.

They need to produce 24,000 a day... not monthly

We spend nearly a trillion dollars a year on our military. Are you telling me that we can't afford this? We have all sorts of super expensive gadgets that may or may not be used. This is something we definitely need right now, and will need in the future as well. Damn the cost. How much does one F35 cost?

34 nations manufacture 155mm rounds. The US manufactures one half of Ukraine's daily usage on a monthly basis. The other 33 nations produce a sufficient number collectively. Apply supply and demand rules and there is a LOT of money to be made. If the US ramps up production and adds another facility or two, we can provide enough to keep our supply at safe levels.

the us is not burning thru their supplies, rather they should ramp up the production lines that means employment for all. do not kid the world with this rhetoric. increase to war footing of 37000 a month

What about mortars?

Any one know how many arty factory's Us and europe have up and running and possible for restore and get operational?

Ukraine also needs a lot of 152mm and 122mm rounds (Russian calibre) as that is what the majority of their artillery is. Poland/Bulgaria supplies it.

Boing has a huge empty factory in Long Beach, Ca. Use it to make 155 shells

Romania has a huge capacity for the 122 mm & 152 mm shells and even has been replacing barrels for the Soviet artillery.

Better start working overtime!

We have allowed the senseless demolition of hundreds of factories in the US that were capable of producing in the same manner of this one. Remaining plants, including those that are sitting idle and neglected, must be preserved at all cost.
