Did you take my community post poll on this video guessing what I did - or did not - have on my February seed schedule? To those of you who did, thanks so much, at the time this video went live the highest percentage went to Frizzle Sizzle Pansy with 50% of the guesses. This is the 3rd video poll and again, it was fun for me to see the percentages on each choice. I won't give the answer in case you haven't watched the video yet. If you have, let me know below if you guessed correctly or not. I will be doing this every Friday, the day before each of my videos launches, so keep an eye out for them and leave your guess - looking forward to them.
  • Happy to learn that pinching sweet peas can lead to more plants. Valuable information. Thank you ❀
  • Many thanks, Evelyn, for introducing me to the Health Kick tomato last season. I planted my (T&T) seeds winter sown into milk jugs. I was giddy with my success - and impressed the productivity of each of my 5 plants. Lovely flavour, great for sandwiches and salads and they freeze into nice sized packages. Your recycling of cardboard milk/cream cartons is inspiring the direction of this season in my garden. With gratitude.
  • Love your videos Evelyn, do you ever start dahlias from seed? Can you give us your thoughts. I'm just pulling out my tubers and waking some up for cuttings so will be rewatching some of your previous videos.

I'm about the same schedule as you but I do plant my dahlias in March unsprouted about 6 inches deep. It works to get an early start and usually no hard frosts at that point. Still waiting for the sweet William I planted last year to bloom. I got like two blooms last year. I'll also put out my soaked sweet peas and ranunculus directly instead of presprouting like I do with garden peas. I am trying pansies and coleus for the first time this year as well. That's a great note organization procedure that you have.

I am in a trial year. Ive tried fall sowing, winter sowing, inside germination and will also try direct sowing many different flowers. I have no idea what i like to grow. Sunflowers and zinnias are a no brainer so i plan to succession plant many of those. For everything else, i am growing a small batch. This year i have no pressure of making money, i just want to know what i like to grow, what is worth growing and when to grow them. I'll also use this year to learn to take pictures. If after all this experimenting i feel that i dont want the side hustle, I'll grow for fun but at least I'll be able to make a decision based on data rather than feelings πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

If I remember correctly, sweet william won't flower until the second year. Double check if you're looking for flowers this year!
