I think if Cesar survived, it would’ve been an even darker story, from the sounds of it, the call still happened, but Cesar wasn’t an alternate. HOWEVER. That means Mark still came over. Or attempted to, but was intercepted by the alternate, getting him killed. Which means that Mark’s death is Cesar’s fault, and now Cesar is being hunted by the creature that killed Mark, and assumingely being tortured and taunted about Mark’s death being his fault.

Love how even when Cesar is confronting a shapeshifting being that comes from HELL, he still wears his coat and bowtie
