Amtrak Vacation Los Angeles To Miami 9 Days Across The USA

Published 2024-06-28
Hop on our Amtrak vacation from Los Angeles to Miami 9 days across the USA. We started our trip in Burbank as we hopped on the Amtrak Coast Starlight to Emeryville. From Emeryville we took the Amtrak California Zephyr to Chicago then the Amtrak Capitol Limited to Washington DC. In DC we took the Silver Meteor to Miami. We used our Guest Reward points for most of our Amtrak Roomette sleeper cars on this journey.

You all lucked out with crowds and congestion almost everywhere. I would love all that solitude to my super introverted self. 😮😊

Hubby and I are going on our first Amtrak train trip 7/11/2024 Chicago to Emeryville❤. Have really appreciated all your videos thank you!

You guys are amazing, and I enjoy your train trips so much. I would love to travel across the USA via train with my son. I think we would get two roomettes across from each other. Thank you for the inspiration. Safe travels!

Wow, took almost that exact trip about a month ago... San Diego to LA to Emeryville to Chicago to DC. We managed to be on time the whole way, but still gave ourselves hotels in E'ville, Chicago and DC. No point stressing about connections. GREAT views until Denver, then, well, lots of farms and industry.

I have learned so much about Amtrak travel from your channel ❤ Thank you !

Your editing is a great mystery. You show a scene on the Nevada desert but not Ruby Canyon, Glenwood Springs, etc. Then. Corn field in Iowa. Your “off menu” dinner was because you were running so late. Coach passengers also get the same. Depends on availability of food-the beef stew is a regular. But sometimes the train is met a station stop with Subway, pizza or KFC. As mentioned already the Moffat Tunnel is out of sequence. Too bad you don’t include some unique sights like the gorgeous interior of the Denver Union Station. Passing Sox Park comes before crossing the Dan Ryan Expressway.
  • ❤Love you guys ❤Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences ❤You guys are loved ❤

I really miss the trips I used to take on Amtrak. Thanks to your wonderful videos I still can! I really feel like I am traveling again! The scenery is beautiful and the food delicious. I remember liking Amtrak food I remember lights out both in coach and in deluxe room . Thanks for bringing the experiences back to me. Way better than flight. 😮
  • Your videos have been a game changer for our later years! We travelled in Midwest on trains when our children were young and home but……now we look for train first. Last year after an Alaskan cruise we came across on the Empire Builder. Booked for Great Lakes and New York this fall.
  • While you describe the second day of the Zephyr as "the prettiest part" of the trip, I really think the trip through the Sierras is every bit as nice.

Watch out for that Metropolitan Lounge in D.C. When I was there last October sitting on one of the couches, a fairly decent-sized rat came walking out from behind the counter where the food is served and came walking right up to me looking for hand outs. Obviously, someone had been feeding this big guy. When I told the two young ladies that were running the lounge at the time, one screamed and the other ran away. Neither girl attempted to actually do anything about it other than hide. 🐀

Good job! What an epic adventure! The Transitional Sleeper cars were once for staff only, but in order to make up for losses, the decision was made to sell Roomettes in spaces designated for employees. The Superliner Sleeper Cars have held up after 30+ years of service, but they're beginning show their age. When the announcement was made that Superliner cars would be "refreshed" I believed there would be more than new carpets, curtains, & seat covers. Electrical & plumbing in these cars need updating. There's no word when new Superliner equipment will be built.
  • Welcome to (though it was very brief) San Jose. Wonderful trip and beautiful scenery thanks for sharing 💖
  • Enjoyed the vlog! I had you streaming on the TV while I straightened up a bit. Looking forward to future vlogs.

Thanks so much for sharing the Amtrak Points cost! I got 40,000 points for signing up based on your advice! Day-to-day spending on the credit card has already given me 12,000 additional points. Robert in NYC.
