Hey thanks for the shoutout man!
  • One of my local round friends is a huge standstill guy and he just pieced apart the field this past weekend and won his first event- a 3 round A-Tier here in Arkansas. Fate put this video on my feed.
  • Standstill + lower weight discs = accuracy + distance. Thanks for posting. As a beginner I was intimidated by the run-up.
  • Broke my right ankle last year so I started throwing stand stills off the tee. Has really changed my game for the better. can now throw just over 300 from a standstill with my avenger ss. Going to start incorporating a walk up this season

I think standstills are critical for most beginners to practice. You have to figure out your reach back, power pocket, wrist snap, and nose angle to throw well. Standstill lets you focus on those things. Adding a run up on top of everything will just create inconsistency for beginners. Once your upper body is fairly consistent, smooth, and powerful, then you bring in the run up for a little extra athletic speed and power behind the shot.

Completely agree on the value of standstill training. I didn’t get a net until recently, but last year I saw that my form was getting worse, and it seemed to be my runup. I went back to throwing from a standing position, and I threw better. Figuring out what the problem was also easier when I could focus on just a few issues rather than a half-dozen. I went back to standstill training a couple of times after that, and it always helped. I have a net now and do standstill training in my garage a couple of times a week. In your video, the ideas you shared were very helpful, and my standstill training is getting better. Thanks for the great video!

I have the same tripod. It's been working great for me going on 8 years. I think iceberg shot a video with Scott Stokely where they were throwing standstill shots. He had iceberg throwing with his elbow up higher, and ended up adding like 50 feet to his throw within a 10 - 15 minute session.
  • “The stove was not on. It indeed was not on.” 😂❤ Feeding knowledge in a way people can eat it up! Keep up the great work!

I would love to be your neighbor for those times when you make videos like this and i look out my window seeing you talking to no one and jumping up and down and yelling now we're cookin! Love the entertainment!
  • I only use stand still so I can focus on my form . I enjoy your videos they are helping me get better at not being very good. Thanks for what you are doing .

Been playing for about a year and I can only throw backhand standstill. Fortunately I can throw about 350-400 consistently and for the most part accurately. Everyone I play with tells me I need to start learning the x step and I’ll be out driving everyone but at only a year in I’m not sure if distance is even that important to me above accuracy. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  • @ogdiscgolfer
Elbows... who knew they were important? :D Great job buddy!
  • @soldiercoop
Watched video from Foundation that recommended this also. I did only stand still on my 4th ever round yesterday and threw it further and straighter. Shot my best score also.
  • I had such a hard time getting my xstep time i switched to stand still. Yesterday just had 2 birdie looks it was great
  • @RaleighRich
I've been throwing a lot more standstills recently as my backhand has become faster. Throwing putters on my local course has been money! I also practice a "one stepper" because it mentally trains me throwing better when I do the X step to throw when I plant my foot. Hence the one step standstill.
  • @yRDiscGolf
Been doing stand stills for a while now, I can definitely see improvement! Another great video my good sir!

Physio here. If lateral epicondylitis is setting in, especially post throwing, it could be a sign of musc control issues (you could have great strength and contraction rate, but slower control isnt there). If you have any therobands, try doing bent elbow, super and pronation of the wrist with resistance and wrist flexion/extension. 4 seconds for the movement phase, 10 reps per. may help settle the pain before it gets worse. obviously this is just a basic idea, so chat to your GP or PT if you need more/ pain continues

Think the birdie clip is at one of my local courses. It looks like whispering walls.
  • 3 months into starting from scratch with josh from overthrow, things definitely were rough at the start but now things are starting to click and went from 220-240' to 300 with a lot less effort. Its not consistent yet and have throws less or more then that but the 3months of struggle will be worth the years of growth and progression I'll have!
