I have been using this housing with a Tokina 10-17mm fisheye lens for canon and a metabones adapter.  it focuses reasonably quickly and produces very sharp images. The lens and adapter easily fit in the dome port but you won't be able to zoom. Just select 12mm and move in closer. With two 8 inch arms each side carrying dual Iron strobes the whole unit is neutral to slightly negative underwater. I also use an Ikelite housing which is so much better but a fair bit heavier. I use the Sea Frogs for travelling when weight limits are an issue. Best thing about the Ikelite housing is being able to use electrical flash sync instead of optical which will heat the housing and cause internal condensation in some temperatures particularly if doing rapidi fire flash photography. You can avoid this to some extent by using moisture absorbers in the housing.
  • Hello dude! Great video, I have one question, how do you manage the zoom on the 18 105 with that ring? I mean, it has motorized zoom right?
  • @jonny5723
To be fair, Seafrogs gives you information about the compatible lenses on their website. The 18-105 is not mentioned there, but the Sigma 16mm is. So it seems like they give you some valid and usefull information there.

With a dome port uw you are focusing on a virtual image inches away from the lens. For wide lenses it's often no problem...but most lenses will require a +3 diopter to focus uw.
  • Hey Joe, the dome ports works by generating an "in air virtual image" which offsets the usual refraction you gen from the water. I got this from "learning surf photography" on youtube but the lens might try to focus on this "virtual image" which is inches from the lens and confuse the focusing system. They actually started selling a flat port for this reason. The lens will work above the surface, but under underwater are better suited to short focal lengths 8-30 mm were the depth of field is deep....I'm actually look at the housing for my old A6000 for freediving and surf. Do you have any videos where you compare the footage with your GoPro?

Nice. Bought it today. There was a 1hour sale with 31%off. :) how does it work without The dome? And Do i need a Light for snorceling?
  • Hello mate, do you think the Sony 5100 is a good choice to start in underwater recording? I want a camera for Vlogs and underwater recording that won't go out of price. Can you recommend one? Thank you very much.
  • @faridr6
Hey joe, your dome port 6” or 8”?
  • @devinjtatro
I just recently picked one of these kits up for my GH5, I am extremely careful with gear and I know when you are out in the elements stuff can happen but I keep my dome covered when not in use and I wiped it with microfiber cloth and even that looks to have left minor scratches/ streaks ... doesn’t appear to effect image yet but I don’t like that it has them (only visible when angled certain way in light) have you seen anything like this with yours? Thanks!

i had the same results! (i think) the problem is the min focus distance. above water its already 90 cm so underwater its even more. now i only use the sigma 16mm or the 30mm macro. they seem to work realy good.
  • I have a 30mm sigma 1.4 for a6500 Does it have any problem with autofocusing?
  • I have to ask, were the shots of your hands (Gauge Shots) GoPro. The video is great and deep, but I was wondering if the GoPro footage would survive a red filter or correction. The GoPro is more practical for free diving and just fun at the beach but the blown highlights and smaller sensor might suffer during color correction. You know how it is when you're about to pull the trigger. Do you wait until Sept for the next GoPro model (sale or improvement) or pool the trigger? I really appreciate the time you put into your video. Have a good weekend.

Best review for this housing! Possible to try sigma 16mm f1.4 on the flat port?
  • @wyzwyz23
Hi friend I have the a6500 and i need to get the housing and the lens. What lens do you recommen me for a wide angle?. And what wet lens should i get? Thanks
  • Hey joe I just bought this housing and the first time i used it the aperture knob worked fine. Later that day when I took it into the water the aperture dial stopped working. Have you had any problems with any of the knobs on the underwater housing ?? Thank you joe

Excellent video thank you for sharing! Is the "Salted Line" designed specifically for salted water as the name implies? Or every other Sea Frogs casing is the same? Thanks in advance
