  • there may be some tunnels in Utica for the central steam heating system. the former MARCY ASYLUM had lots of tunnels
  • yes this is an amazing piece of architecture. they're giving this asylum all the lime light because of it's age. meanwhile there was an even bigger asylum just north west of whitesboro. the infamous MARCY ASYLUM which originally started as a branch of the Utica asylum. it was built in 1923 and they're trying to erase it's history. in the 1980s it was closed and converted into the current midstate correctional facility. and it's former medical surgical building was converted into a maximum security foransic mental hospital known as the central new york psychatric center. the former MARCY ASYLUM was officially known as MARCY STATE HOSPITAL and it had a children's unit that was known as CRANE HILL SCHOOL which itself only existed from 1960 to 1983 it what originally was a tuberculosis building known as morningside. the former CRANE HILL SCHOOL,s name was picked from the crane family cemetery on river road. when i was a child my mother was always saying refering about my dad that he's gonna drive her to MARCY so i asked what is MARCY and she said. it's a place that you never leave. not knowing that i would find out first hand what MARCY was as a child from 9 years old to 16 years old. but now i get my Jollies making fun of it. using the bands IRON MAIDEN'S mascot as MARCY ASYLUM,s mascot from there KILLER'S album. because it could pass as a female character as MARCY is a women's name with a vary HEAVY HISTORY
