  • My personal stem cell experience... I am 70 years old and 10 years ago I had an MRI that found two torn miniscus and a bone spur in my left knee and med to advanced arthritis in both knees. I was in a lot of pain! I had stem cells from a delivered placenta (so no moral problem) and my own spun blood plasma injected into both knees, praying it would help. My knees were noticeably better the next day, but completely like new within about 3 weeks! I have no more arthritis and it's been 10 years! And the bone spur and two torn miniscus are healed. 70 years old now and knees like new. I tell everybody, but the sad thing is that insurance co's don't pay for it, so it doesn't get much awareness! Loved your dark chocolate talk!

I researched this a LOT last year. I eat 92% organic cacao dark chocolate from Equal Exchange. I have a 1" square piece daily.

My rule with chocolate now is to have it only as add-on ingredient (vs eating it a piece as a treat), so I may use it sparingly for Tiramisu or a few chocolate chips over an ice-cream bowl. There are of course other ways to get polyphenols. For example, some Berries are high in polyphenols (anthocyanins, flavonols, and phenolic acids). I add them to our smoothies. elderberries: 1,191 mg per 100 g blackcurrants: 560 mg per 100 g blueberries: 525 mg per 100 g

Great info Dr. Li. Thank you for all you do. I’ve read your book, gifted it; then bought another to gift to another friend.
  • A way to consume it right. Select a high quality chocolate 🍫 with 90% as they have much less fat and sugar in them. You can eat one square or maybe even two squares per day. It is suggested you take glycine and carnosine before and after you ate the two squares take berberin and then walk for 5 to 10 minutes if you can. Do prp once a month as well.
  • A few issues NOT covered in this otherwise informative discussion of chocolate: First off, the lower the cacao percentage the HIGHER the amount of sugar or other sweetener. Sugar is to be avoided. WHO advise people to eat 25 grams or less per day. So, if you are going to eat chocolate with a lower cacao percentage, realize the the balance is going to be a sweetener of some sort. Personally, I look for chocolate that is either 85% cacao or, if lower, then sweetened with stevia or some other natural sweetener. The second issue Dr. Li left out (forgot?) is to mention is what is the maximum amount of chocolate or cocoa to be consumed per day. One square per bar or ??? I would recommend that before you regularly consume a cacao product, you ensure that the company has a third party test all finished products for heavy metals to ensure low levels. The Consumer Reports article is entitled "A Third of Chocolate Products Are High in Heavy Metals, CR's Tests Find". Thanks again, Dr. Li, for another great video.

I will largely depend on the soil in which the cacoa plant was grown, on the other hand if you live near a lead smelter you will fair much worsethan eating dark chocolate every day, or if you lived near a main road during the 5-6 decades of leaded petroleum

I like having Taza with my matcha tea each day. I also tend to try and eat fresh cilantro as it helps to flush the heavy metals from your body. That’s what I’m led to believe… I hope so.

Didn't eat chocolate for years as it gave me a stomachache.Moved to a place that grows it in Central America,no stomach issues at all, then i realized there was only 3 ingredients in the local chocolate, the stuff sold in USA has a gazillion! I now take the local powdered chocolate in the morning with nothing added as my naturopath told me that it stimulates my bile and taste much better than the bitters i was taking. Food is medicine.Thank you Dr Li.
  • @TaijaSkyDragon
Finally. Been wondering if you would start addressing heavy metals pesticides etc in the foods you recommend. Like stone fruits. Are they next?
  • @marygrott8095
Good information, Dr. Li, thank you! I thought you were going to take away my darl chocolate. I got scared there for a minute 😅

They dry it along roads and they use leaded gasoline in those countries.
