  • There are all kinds of fly tying videos on Youtube that will show viewers how to tie flies that will catch fish. These videos are different. These flies are different. The maker's eye and hands are different, concerned with a level of detail and composition that is beyond. It's art. Thanks for the beautiful videos and allowing us to watch.

First class. This is* stunning Barry, hands down thee best detached body method I’ve watched
  • use a bit of chapstick to get the closed cell foam to slide onto the needle easier. This is closed cell foam. Open cell foam is what is used in old mattress toppers. It loses air from all the internal chambers when pressed upon whereas this foam does not.
  • Have to agree with prior comments, Barry. This is a very innovative technique. I’ve been tying for many decades and I find a lesson in each of your vids. Very generous of you to share.
  • I've made lots of extended bodied flies, but have never seen this method.  Really nice.  I will be adding some of these to my collection.  Thanks for posting!!
  • Man I wish I knew this tutorial back in 2015 when I was in New Jersey still, I've since moved to the philippines but absolutely love fly tying and fishing...wonderful video!!!
  • This is the best way of making the tails I've seen this will help me with both mayfly and daddy's thanks again for a stunning video

Super cool Barry, I have not seen an extended body prepared in this manner, good learning. You would benefit from a Extended reach Matarelli Whip Finisher for core tools. I use Mini Tiemco, STD. & Extended Reach Whip Finishers depending on application, and happy with all three.
