  • This is proof that you don't need flashy, expensive CGI and special effects to make a true classic film.

The ending to this version, was so much better than the one from the 2002 remake!
  • The scene of the Morlock decomposing used to spook the living daylights out of me whenever The Time Machine was on TV in the in the 1970s/1980s. Excellent film though and my all time favourite film.
  • It is one of the greatest movies ever made. No pun intended, it is timeless. I saw it in the movie theatre in 1960. And it holds up even today and will into the future. For us old Canadians theater is spelled theatre.
  • “Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams

Born well after this time but I really love it. One of my all time fav films. I have only seen this version too, not the more current one. So many great films were made years ago!!
  • Still doesn't quite have the impact the book had on me. For instance, in the book after he takes the machine back, he goes to an even more distant future and makes a stop there, to see the sunset of life on the planet, the ocean taking over most of the land, and barely escapes being devoured by a giant ocean creature. Not to mention all his reflections on the humankind and society throughout the book.
  • No morlocks were harmed during the making of this film
  • This movie had warmth and charm. Wonderful relationship with Filby and the others. I have the model machine....fantastic!

“Oh. Please! It's not a time machine, if anything; it looks like something that Elton John would drive through the Everglades” -Penny from season 1, episode 14, TBBT.
  • I still have this whole film on video. Pity I don't have a machine to play it on any longer. Wish I'd had it converted to DVD now.
