The perceived meaning of buckshot roulette: "Sometimes the risk isn't worth the reward" The real meaning: "All Estonian developers are sadistic"

Shotgun roulette’s death screen has got to be one that has filled me almost, omnipotently with a sense of dread.

42:09 something i noticed also is that the 'heaven' place looks like certain proposals for nuclear waste storage areas, the spikes as a way to universally warn of danger or death to any life who may discover it

'I LOVE backshot rou- I mean, Buckshot Roulette' LMAOOOOOO
  • Mike Klubnika and YMES are two horror devs who kill it lately with the vibes and proper terror buildup. They don't do jumpscare fest, they build things up and either scare with world implications or with the sheer concepts of the material. Also I love the lad who did the VA for Dealer in your vid- most would give Dealer some deep voice or crooked one, but making him softspoken is such a good choice
  • had to pause my 9 hour long video to watch the new howard drop super awesome ultra edit: it was BHultra

The best part has got to be when the final round starts, and you can no longer be revived after you lose. Monochrome LCD adds this tranquil vibe to such a serious and intense scene, letting you know that someone is going to die, one way or the other, and they won't be coming back.

Didn't realise the guy who made Carbon Steel made Buckshot Roulette. I thought they were different creators, Thank god I watched.

It's so cool noticing small details like round heads of Sentinels from the Core translate to Dealer's likeness in Buckshot Roulette, as well a guard in security room from Unsorted VHS having a pump shotgun near the desk. That's a proper asset reuse any developer should consider, but also it gives thoughts about several of Mike's games being interconnected. For example, Buckshot Roulette and Conrete Tremmors might be set in a virtual reality similar to Tartarus Engine or Infineural, explaining how those games keep going despite their participants dying in the process.

interesting thing about concrete tremor: your opponent is actually cheating. he knows where all your buildings are and only misses 5 as a taunt to you. but if you replay several times, you'll realize your opponent's buildings are always in the same place. you can only win by cheating.
  • Dude, I absolutely LOVE Mike Klubnika's games. I've been a huge fan of him for ages, so I'm super happy to see him finally get the recognition he deserves!
  • @pinixy
Infineural reminds me of how neural networks are really trained - by humans sitting at computers labelling images. for big operations, the work is outsourced to people being paid very little money to do all the work. might not have been what Mike was going for, but it's what i thought of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • I felt like his name was familiar before with some of works but the one I could only remember was the cabin experiment. There's something about this dev's sense of style that just resonates with how my dreams look, kudos to you and him for keeping things intruiging
  • @RetroLammerr
Infineural concept really reminds me of the apple tv show "severence" either know where you're getting your money from, or life in ignorance of what your other self had to go through

Ok. A video essay at 2.00 am just when i am going through a tough time and i need good sleep... Hell yeah
  • @cryllys4329
A little off topic but the Who's Lila music gave me whiplash how fast i recognized it LMFAO you've gotta have great taste in games
  • @87axal
Never expected this impressive display of voice acting skill from people volunteering in a relatively small Vtuber's Discord. Seriously, pretty much all of them were so good!
  • I love this sort of existential-industrial grime horror, I've been playing his games since Outside and I loved his VHS collection
