Respect to this man showing how to practice safety…vehicle brakes held on, life jacket on, careful about reefs…this kind of boating should be taught, well done sir

I really like this guys presentation. Calm. No stupid high speed music changing every 15 seconds. Thoughtful, careful, thorough. I’m new to crabbing in Oregon and this guys knowledge is filling in a lot of blanks for me. I’m a subscriber now. Thank you!

I really salute to this very responsible man. If all fishermen are like him, there will be lots of seafoods that will be left for the future generation. God bless this man.

I'm 79 now living in Minnesota. Lived in Santa Clara in the 60's & 70's. Use to go on charter boats bottom fishing for Cod, Snapper, etc. out of Half Moon Bay sponsored by the Pub I hung out at. The only crabbing I ever did was off of Muni. pier in S.F. when I was between 10 & 12 yrs. old. (big Dungies back then right off the pier!) This brings back a lot of good memories. Thanks for the great video!

I'm old, worn out and can barely walk.. I love watching your videos. Also love your attitude about life.. My only problem is that I get jealous watching you do the things you are able to do. I see in the comments people mentioning surgery. I'll watch but if you are having a health issue and facing surgery I of course wish you the best and a speedy,, Full, successful surgery. Keep Moving Sir.

I grew up in NJ and used to go crabbing every year with my Dad. We had a trick that used to really help attract the crab to the pots. We would buy cans of cheap wet cat food, punch a few holes in the cans and throw one in the bait bag along with the bait. We were always successful using that trick, even when the other boats in the area weren't catching many.

After watching this in the midst of all the craziness in the world. It made me think of what is important in this life. Fishing, good health and good friends who teach fishing techniques whom I don't know personally... but they are part of our special brotherhood. Tight lines Matt!

Praying all goes well with your surgery and a speedy recovery. I'm in Texas and would love to be doing what you're doing.

Another tip for those with 4wd and automatic transmission is put it in 4wd at the ramp. Manual transmission putting it in gear does the same thing. Both always with the parking brake. It will lock up the front tires when put in park or gear. Love the videos. Appreciate your time to make them

Glad to see you being safe, my father drowned in the Columbia River just off the Astoria Bridge while salmon fishing. His boat capsized and he had rubber boots on and no life vest so he basically sunk right away. Stay safe man great content as usual!
  • A joy to see the fisherman at work with great confidence, obviously prepared. He seems to know the marina well. GPS essential! My father was a fisherman in Mexico, and I know that I would enjoy a ride on this fisherman's boat as I did when I was a child.

Hope all goes as planned with the surgery man and you have a quick recovery. The wife and I love your content. Thanks for the tip on the 3/8 rope as well, I never think about that stuff until I am pulling my pots lol.
  • Just stumbled upon this vid today, 3/12/22. Saw that it was nearly a half-hour and thought I'd have to be skipping around a bit to save time. No way. What an enjoyable video, worth every minute. Now, of course, I've got a hunger for some crab... Nice work.
