Am I too old to do ballet? That's what I've been asking myself for far too long. I never imagined I'd be here today finally living my dreams, but I'm a much happier, healthier person since I started to learn how to do ballet.

And the truth I've discovered from learning this beautiful art of dance is that it is NEVER too late to start ballet.

Don't worry if you're a late starter, there are so many people I know who didn't even THINK of starting dance until they were older than me or you. So don't get discouraged by age, just DANCE!

You're not too old, or too young, or too fat, or too poor, or not good enough. Dance is for anyone and everyone and if you feel the need to express yourself through movement, please try taking a class, it could change your life.

I was told the same thing at 17 and now Iā€™m 26. Itā€™s hard to find beginner adult classes where the teacher takes you seriously.

i'm 20 and just started. my teacher started when he was 25 and now he teaches at joffrey. he made me realize it truly is never too late :)
  • I danced when I was a child and gave it up when I was 12. Restarted after a cancer desease when I was 44. Now I am 62 and still do the ballet three times a week. I love it!

you look so pretty! i went to my first lesson earlier this week at age 30. no prior dance experience. my instructor was so kind and encouraging. he said that adult beginners are his favorite to teach because there is no pressure from parents or anyone else to succeed, it's all for the joy of dance and desire to learn.

Guys, I was fourty years old when I started ballet and did it for three years. Unfortunately I moved away and didnā€™t find a good teacher anymore. Now I am 54 and I want to do it again so I am looking for a good schoolšŸ„°
  • Beautiful! Quick tip, try to keep your hips completely still during tenduā€™s

Iā€™m a classical vocalist and have always been so gutted by stage fright, I couldnā€™t even audition, until now. For some reason I donā€™t have the same fears I used to. Iā€™m at an age when no one would recommend I pursue professional vocal work. But life is too short, and ultimately, no one really cares what I do. Itā€™s my life and Iā€™d like to leave with as few regrets as possible. Maybe even inspire others, just like you are.

Iā€™m 16 and luckily none of my teachers have told me Iā€™m too old. Iā€™m super grateful because I desperately want to get to the level of pointe.

As a dancer, I believe nobody is too old or too young to start dancing. You just need to be passionate. Dance can make anyone fall in love with it and it's so great to see people start dancing no matter what age they are at. ā¤ Keep going ā¤

I am 15 and my biggest dream is to take up ballet classesā€¦ everyone around me say that Iā€™m already too old for that, but itā€™s my life and only I myself make right decisions, so hopefully this year Iā€™m gonna start ballet ā¤

I did ballet from when I was 7-10 years old and during recent years have been wanting to start again but didnā€™t have the courage. I know I wonā€™t be able to start up again this season since thereā€™s only a few months left and next year Iā€™m going to a sort of ā€œboarding schoolā€ so I canā€™t start then either. so my only option is to start after that where Iā€™ll be 16-17. Unfortunately itā€™s really hard to find beginner classes for 16-17 year olds but Iā€™m not ready to give up on my dream quite yet :) Dance used to be a big part of my identity and without it I just donā€™t feel myself.

I was told that also but already in my 30's when I tried to go back..i miss it so much. Dance brings so much life and as a child it was my escape from all the pain around me.
