709A LUT vs VENICE Lut vs Filmconvert Nitrate

LUTs! Comparing the LC-709A with Alister Chapman's Venice LUT alongside Filmconvert Nitrate. All clips are recorded in SLOG2 using SGAMUT. Normally I wouldn't shoot log at night but there was enough ambient light to still overexpose by ~1.5 stops.

The 709A lut gives a less contrasty look than VENICE. Both are nice starting points.
For some scenes I prefer the Venice lut, for others I prefer the 709A. 709A skintones definitely skew more magenta. Filmconvert Nitrate can also be used on REC709 images, making it a compelling option if you're really into emulating the film look. Over half the stocks filmconvert nitrate claims to emulate, I've never shot with but TriX, TMax, Velvia, and Provia emulations seem accurate to my memory of each. There is little room for grading beyond minor corrections with the a6500's weak 8-bit codec. Filmconvert can give better results for amateur non-colorists like myself.

Interesting comparison. The Venice LUT seems to be crushing the black too much I guess? It looks perfect on some scenarios, but too much on others. I also have the same problem with the blacks over here.
