TSA Locks (Master TSA002)

TSA locks are notoriously insecure and in my opinion aren't worth the investment. While this video shows a Master TSA002 lock, pretty much all of the TSA locks on the market have the same or similar issues. In my mind, you might get more tamper protection / detection value out of a colorful zip tie than one of these.

  • Excellent video. Thank you. I've just bought a TSA 005 lock to add to my collection. Although there isn't a commercially available 005 master key (unless you count the ridiculously expensive Wendt set) the micro jiggler set open the lock every time. That's every one of those micro jiggler keys! Every side!! Every time!!! I like the TSA locks. OK, they're functionally useless to secure luggage, easily compromised but they are quite intricate with that TSA key override.

Very informative, but when trying to show off the small details on a small lock, don't be afraid to slow down and hold the lock much closer to the camera or even edit in a close up shot. I personally couldn't really see the details like the code reset notch when you were showing them.

If all else fails, just try the default code of 000
  • Hello! I have a few Masterlock TSA 002 locks whose combo.s I do not know. They were not locked and the shackles did not depress. I tested numbers by feel and was able to guess and push 2 of them, in the 90 degree position, deeper. I noted the numbers, moved the shackle above the lock position, changed the numbers and they do not depress and engage. When I have it in the 90 degree position and fully depressed they do not turn to 180 (should they?). And now 1 of them no longer responds to that discovered combo. Help? Thankyou!

Hey! Great video! I forgot the combination to my lock, it was in the open position but the shackle was pressed down. How can I decode it? Any tips? Thanks for the help
