As you very quickly see, a travel everyday carry setup can change quite drastically from a daily EDC kit when you're at home. For me, this video is less about the individual items, and more about how boarding over 200 flights and spending more than 1,300 days abroad over the past decade has taught me to carefully consider the real-life implications of life on the road and what to bring to make life go as smoothly as possible.

This means that my travel needs are likely different from yours, but the thought process when deciding what items to bring and carry everyday are the same - and THAT's the most important thing - to be able to assess our own needs effectively and choose the best tools for our unique use-cases.

What's shared in this video is the travel edc that I've refined over the past decade and only contains the best travel accessories for my types of travel - mostly for business in cities, urban leisure, and some (but definitely much less) outdoor trekking and camping.

Here is a great advice regarding passport. Always always take a picture of you passport in case it get lost. It will make it so much easier for you to get help when you have a picture as proof of your passort
  • When using the hotel safe, use the single shoe trick. Put one shoe in there too. That way you when pack to go, and you pack up the other shoe, you will ask "Where's that other shoe?" Oh yea, it's in the safe with other important things that I don't want forget about and leave behind.
  • I also carry a rubber door stop. Great protection as a woman and added security when I go to sleep so the door is difficult to open from the outside while I sleep.
  • Make sure you carry your passport at all times during your trip to Japan. It is a legal requirement and local police may ask to check your identification (they still do spot checks on the street from time to time). If you fail to do so, you may face legal consequences. Hence, don't leave your passport in your hotel room.
  • Another great use of the binder-clip is to completely close curtains in the hotel room. I have been in too many rooms where the curtains don't come together and will allow a beam of sunlight, streetlight, etc. to come through which is almost always in my eyes while sleeping.

Literally one of the best travel videos I've ever seen! Not even close.
  • Absolutely love the quality and thoughtfulness of your content. The way you deliver it with a calm voice makes it easy to understand and time well spent. Thanks so much, Maurice. I look forward to seeing more of your work. New subscriber.
  • I basically just randomly stumbled upon this video and only watched it because i have a long flight back home ahead of me but wow, your presentation was absolutely flawless. Well spoken, well structured, extremely understandable, well reasoned and just overall very very high quality. This might be one of the most, if not the most, flawless videos i have ever seen.
  • As a BJJ black belt who's always traveling I must say your self defense tip is better than most I've seem from actual fighters. Avoiding conflict is the best self defense.
  • Love how Tactical, Clean , Concise , Logical and Passionate your presentations are. Comfortly presenting solutions to your viewers. Subscribed just after just two vids. I am sure to find a wealth of info on your other vids and also in those to come. Perhaps, I could even pose my own questions.
  • One more item to have on your trips abroad is the identification / medical strap from Road ID. Recently, on a trip to a foreign destination, I had an accident and I lost some blood because of an injury. Ofcourse, the first thing that got stolen in the commotion was my wallet with my passport and cash. Thankfully the person couldn't take my mobile, since it was in my trousers with a zipper on and the zipper pull was under my backside and I'm heavy that way. The doctors at the local hospital had to give me a bottle of blood, my Road ID bracelet had all my medical conditions mentioned on it along with my blood group. Very very helpful when you're unconscious or unable to answer. Especially in a foreign country.

Your recommendations based on experience, plus clear, concise language, and expert editing, make these videos exceptional! Thank you, sir!
  • New to your channel and very much appreciate your level of precision - by this I mean things like when explaining the curtain / money clip idea you showed a circle and specified you were talking the other side of the window - you don't leave anything to chance / misunderstanding. I'm willing to bet some people think you are a little too precise, but I do appreciate it!
  • 3 - Looks to be the most spacious. Personally, if I were carrying a sling already, I would want the largest one in a certain size range. I'd rather have the extra space and not need it then otherwise. Hope you enjoy your trips and share whatever stories and adventures you can, Happy New Year!

This is all great advice! Although be careful in Japan as it’s one of the only countries in the world where non-resident foreigners must have their passport on them at all times. If you’re stopped by the police, they may ask to see your ID and the visitor entry stamp (sticker) in the passport. If you happen to have a Japanese residence card, there is no requirement to keep your passport with you.
  • I just found your channel and wanted to tell you I love your content. Can stop watching your videos and curse you because your link to next videos flow so well that instead of watching 15min I fall into hour long rabbit holes.
