100$ project Electric assist.

Nissan Maxima radiator fan motor 15$ (scrap yard)
Bag 1.25$ Dollorama
240 volt ac motor 9.99 (Just for aluminum wheel, surplus store)
Bike lugage rack 15$ (Canadian tire)
Heat sink 3.99$ (surplus store)
Battery 6-DZM-20 deep cycle Amg Sla 12 volt 20 amphr 60$ (electric scooter shop)
Double switch 1.99 (surplus store)
Some aluminum box section (can buy anywahere, but I had already)
Some wire (just laying around, has to be capable of the draw you put on it)

Thats it will update with long term results. I may buy a controller they are cheap enough on ebay, but I will see what happens.

I didnt mention pedeling. With both switches on its nice you can easily maintain 20-25 without much effort on flat.

Good luck questions, comments, or suggestions welcome.

  • Busy with another project right now so its on hold. I should say 15 mph without pedaling was not accurate maybe more like 5 to 10 mph. Would like to try another motor maybe more power and with a controller, and mount the battery in the frame. There are bigger fan motors, but the RC projects look very cool!
