  • Better to have a "boring" politician than to have a clown at the helm
  • „What happens when she leaves ?“ is the forbidden question in germany. Its running down my neck... da will ich gar nicht dran denken tun

Imagine beeing her husband Joachim Sauer. He almost got nominated for the nobel prize in physics and then he sits on banquets with people like Trump or Pence and have to listen to their idiotic monologues about science

“I’ve known a great many clever men. I’ve outlived them all. Do you know why? I ignored them” – Lady Olenna Tyrell
  • in this world of trumps, Putins and Erdogans its good to have that "boring" woman, who you just cannot provocate....

She will be remembered as a good politician. Not perfect, but good, which is way more than pretty much any politician out there. In the world.
  • Risikomanagement ist die Frau vorbildlich, One of her best skill is risk management. Remember all the world wide crisis we got last 16 years. Shes doing realy great
  • @wrgsf13
When your name is so long even germans invent acronyms for it
  • I think the fact that she has a degree in a field of science gives her the ability to analyze and conclude very thorough. Although she seems slow I think she is extremely calculating
  • Americans want drama, so they elect clowns. Governance is most important.
  • She is pretty "boring" on the surface and makes rather safe decisions most of the time. But some of the stuff she says when speaking in parliament is gold, I am just sad there aren't any English subtitled best ofs i can link here xD
  • I was missing the 08 financial crisis and Merkel's crisis Management, which cemented Merkels Leadership role in Germany and EU.
  • @Xermmm
I'm a U.S. citizen and wow do I have so much respect and admiration for this woman. Germany was blessed to have her at the helm for so long.
  • I as a German wish she would run for yet another Term, she is not the best but in my opinion one of the most trustworthy people and also showed that she can keep the country stable. I just cant imagine a germany without her.

I'm pretty much on the far left when it comes to politics and I don't agree with some of the things she stands for BUT I respect her. I can aknowledge how good her stability and calmness is in moments of crisis, how smart she is, how much she listens, but also by how much good she did by shifting her party more towards the political center and how hard she works. Looking over to other countries like the US I am glad that we have her as our Bundeskanzler. My political ideals may wish for something different but she as a person is someone I can accept and respect in her position. I would never vote for her party and I hope that the party loses more votes when she leaves because the CDU without her is just well... everything already bad about the party without the good things she brings to the table. I'm pretty sure the party will shift to the right again without her.
  • She is a symbol of sober competence in a world of media hungry narcissistic wealthy politicians. She stands out as such. Big fan.
