Massive respect captain D! After years of watching your videos it’s a nice feeling being featured :) Great breakdown as always!
  • @theslowmoguys
Captain goblin king was a personal highlight. - a British boy with a ridiculously expensive phantom.
  • @jacksfilms
Beyond impressive!! O Captain my Captain
  • @gnpar
I love how CD makes the explanation look like he had access to the raw footage 🤯

I just noticed that in the scene at 2:44, there's a guy behind the Captain who's actually doing the glass ball juggling. There's doing a brief Labarynth homage, and then there's also homaging the way the original movie did the same thing! (David Bowie couldn't juggle like that, it's a guy behind him stickin' his arm through).

HOW DID YOU KNOW MY NEXT VIDEO CAPTAIN?!
  • @NitroParkour
This is some insane work. We can’t imagine how much time was put into it. Very inspiring!

    > Quick D > Runtime: 12 minutes, 57 seconds Ah yes, the Alan Becker scale of Quick. Though I won't lie, I love a bigger helping of Captain D. As always, great breakdown of VFX and hilarious commentary.
  • Nice breakdown. I’m always amazed by the amount of work you put into these videos… both the analysis and presentation of findings. I can’t get enough of them. 👍

I'll never understand why people say science removes beauty. Isn't this whole thing so much more interesting than "it's magic"?
  • @slippydouglas
2:50 I like where the CD-explaining-luminance-keying part isn’t shot with luminance-keying; CD’s using standard blue/green-screen (evidenced by the slight haloing on his hands when he moves them quickly). Very nice, well done.

Just reading all the top comments...Captain D truly is the YouTuber's YouTuber. A Bowie-impersonating god amongst men.
  • @Jogwheel
I absolutely love that your "Quick D" series is anything but "quick" - but the result of at least 200+ hours (more?) of painstaking work and a meticulous attention to detail. I feel like I'm watching an early Simpsons episode here - there are gags, visuals, and references crammed into every other second. I love it! Bravo, CD - another fantastic video as usual :-)
  • @briankalet1
This guy is smart, resourceful, has an incredible attention to detail and hilarious!! 😂
  • @DenisShiryaev
Ancient gods of YouTube has spoken their word… Amazing as usual, thank you
  • @raddaks2039
Guy on internet: Makes visual effect CD: NO YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG, THAT'S SO MUCH HARDER THAN IT NEEDS TO BE Also CD: Rotoscopes himself in the same scene behind shards of falling glass
  • @TimeBucks
can’t even imagine how much work goes into each video
  • @Doodle128
I love the quiet squishing sounds when he penetrates the books
  • @DannyPorsche
The only channel watched by the big guys on YouTube with millions of subs. Which makes Captain the best YouTuber
