Lucy Charles-Barclay's rise to fame as a professional triathlete has been a monumental journey.

From discovering swimming, winning everything at county and national level, facing rejection from the 2012 Olympics and losing her biggest supporter in her nan, Lucy's determination and competitiveness to succeed meant she finally found triathlon.

This is the story of Lucy's childhood and her rise to becoming a champion, with interviews from her family, friends and coaches who all saw her grow into the professional athlete she always dreamed of.

I’ve been following Lucy’s journey since 2018 when triathlon first peaked my interest. What she has achieved is absolutely incredible, especially after plan A (swimming at the Olympics) didn’t work out. I attended a wedding the day she raced Kona in 2023 and couldn’t help tuning into the race on my phone every ~30 mins or so. Inevitably, I cried when she won — no one deserved it more that day!!! Lucy is my biggest inspiration going into my first 70.3 this July 🫶🫶

Lucy is obviously an absolutely insane athlete and a variable that most people underestimate which I think is the decisive factor to win Worlds is having a great support system. :) 🎉
