SuperThrive - the legendary miracle plant additive? This is part one where I set up my 2 tests. As of publish date, I'm skeptical but I can tell you that many local landscapers here hold the stuff in high regard. I'm curious to know what you think. One thing's for sure, it stinks! Smells like a horrible vitamin burp.

  • Digging your videos as always. I liked how much fun you were having playing around while you wait for that St. Augustine to fill in. Very entertaining!

Your sprig technique/method is legit. I took some sprigs today from my Meyer Zoysia and Bermuda stands to try and resolve a trouble area I have. My method/technique was nowhere near as good as your technique was. Your videos are fantastic; glad I stumbled across your channel. Keep 'em coming man.

Back in the late '80's and early '90's I was growing weed in Washington state and the cuttings I got from a friend only produced about 3 to 4 ozs of weed so I started taking my own cuttings and kept the mother plant on Super Thrive and used Super Thrive on the cuttings. I would dip the cuttings in a solution of Super Thrive and then put them in little pots to root and after about the 10th or so batch of cuttings the plants started yielding up to 12 ozs per plant and a few even produced about 14 ozs so I know this stuff works. The only problem is that plants in a flower bed will be overgrown in no time.Great stuff!
  • You have really well put together videos. Trying to get me new home's lawn in order and it's nice to be entertained in the process.
  • Man I like everything about these vids. I've been watching for maybe a month and a bit now and enjoy every show. Well produced
  • I can tell you had fun making this video. Keep up with the good work!
  • I used superthrive for a couple seasons over a decade ago and was happy with the results, but I was growing on a smaller scale. I finally decided to try it again this year and growing flowers on a much larger scale. So far I'm pleased but it's still early yet to see if it's a big difference or not. I haven't changed anything else about the fertlizers I use or how I apply them or how often. The only change is superthrive. I do have to say, I transplated (ie, yank them out of the ground and re plant) some nicotiana starts in 80 degree weather and they never wilted. I soaked the transplants after planting. I have a dahlia that has grown over 6 foot this year and is absolutely loaded with blooms. Similar story with the other second year dahlias. I have some first year dahlias that I am also applying the same fertlizers and superthrive to as a bit of a control if you will to compare results of non superthrive from last year. I do belive the formula has changed slighty from when I was using it many years ago. good luck to you, I love this channel!

Bought me some SuperThrive at the local Home Depot... Was walking through Walmart today and found some more. Going to break it out in a couple of days before going out of town a few days. Can't wait to see the results
  • Hey! In one of your videos you talked about adding dish soap to weed killer. That worked like a charm! I finally have the upper hand on the clover that is slowly taking over my front yard. Thanks Lawn Care Nut. You're my hero.
  • I have a ranch where i produce sod and this year i decided to start production of St. Augustine sod since its what people in Tijuana and Baja California ask for 98% of the time so why fight it. Im using the good old fashioned sprig method and getting very good results and saturday i tried a new method of broadcasting sprigs and light disking them in the soil, looks good and hope it pans out. My goal is to sprig 10k sqmts this seasson im at 1500 sqmts today 800 have rooted, and are growing nicely. Any ways i ran into your channel and you have tons of great info that will be of essence on my succes on this venture. Thank you and happy sprigging.
  • @AlBeebe
We're literally tuning in each week to watch the grass grow. Thats awesome, great channel
  • New to your vids and enjoy them! My main source for lawn tips!! I've got a question: I'm planning on dethatching/overseed this fall....... should I aerate too or what till spring?
  • @SJtoobsox
Keep it up , Allyn! Love the videos and all of your energy! Any tips for us west coasters struggling with heat waves and browning lawns? :)
  • Hi Allyn have you ever used Ornamec on your tall fescue to control Bermuda grass that is creeping in? If so does it actually work? Thanks
  • Great video. Have you look at "shampooing" the lawn instead of aeration? Basically it is just adding the surfactants without anything else. It is supposed to loosen up the soil.
  • I haven't used SuperThrive....however, I LOVE Medina Soil Activator. Growth looks great!
