I had a Daisy 922 in .22 some 25+ years ago.

Pity it never burned. I haven't seen one of those pump-up air rifles for years. As far as I know, you can pump them up to an extremely high pressure. Interesting experiment. 👍

Generally my experience is they only look impressive if they are in fairly good condition and fully charged. And even then, they are quite often disappointing. When they vent, they only catch fire if there is something to ignite the gasses. That could be a metal part short circuiting inside if there is enough charge to do the job and heat it up. Maybe a spark could do it in the right conditions.
