Published 2024-04-12
In my toolbox I've earned a knife, a steel striker, chert and char cloth. With damp conditions can I succeed or will this be my point of failure??? Watch to find out!

Also tearing your char cloth to expose the frizzy edges helps. Quartz can be hard work being a softer mohs hardness. Also the sharpest edges possible.π₯π₯π₯ good on you for having ago. Persistence. You are having trouble getting your birds nest to catch fire because you put your charcloth in it loosely. The heat does not get trapped and does not build up as much. It is much easier if you hold the birds nest in your hands while blowing and close it around your charcloth.

may I suggest, first off, don't be stingy with your char cloth, go big, unless you are forced to conserve your resources more is better. Second, hold your tinder bundle in your hands and blow into flame and then place that flaming bundle into your fire-lay, far more efficient and easy to do?
