  • Another bit to notice is the thematic relevance of the final battle. He lost his mother at the winter fair, his only real family. The fight takes place at the EXACT SAME FAIR, where he stands up to evil and accepts his new family
  • @MadnessBomber
You missed how the mom said "what is this?" to the compass! Like she didn't even remember at all what it was!
  • @ownthevoid
CinemaSins is nice, but this channel is refreshing. Its nice to see someone appreciating the art and good, entertaining qualities in films. Seems like everyone's a critic.
  • Zachary Levi is always a win. Seems like he's just a really good dude, on and off camera.
  • @SesamUbe
I’m a little disappointed that you didn’t give any attention to the “Say my name !” “BILLY” “SAY THE NAME I SAY TO TURN INTO THIS GUY”
  • @kabobawsome
Something I genuinely love is that Billy REALLY IS pure of heart. Even when he knows he could just walk away, consequence-free, he can't help but fight bullies hurting a disabled kid. Even when he knows he's going to have to fight Sivana, he sees him not as someone who can't be redeemed, but as another victim of bullying and gaslighting. Even when he has more important things to worry about, he can't help but try to comfort a little girl.

Hot take: Billy's mom is the best villain in the DCEU
  • @MardonNaLou
Anyone else feel that gut punch when Billy found his “mother”? I kind of felt it coming early on but, it didn’t soften the blow for me.

Yes, Shazam is awesome. You know what else is awesome? Treasure Planet. Please review it.
  • @LauraB_
I never noticed how Billy's mom's hat/gloves changed color in memory versus reality. Good stuff!
  • @soltandvinegar
My dad is disabled and loads of his friends who he has met through different groups are too. Freddie's sense of humour is pretty accurate.
  • For those who don't know who the catterpillar is, here's a quick history. That'a mister mind, the biggest villain in thr entire captain marvel print history. With sivana, it's personal, with black adam it's even, and individual members of the family may have their own archnemesises, but no one comes close to mind's position of archvillain to the entire family. Despite his being.... well, a nearsighted caterpillar from space with a voicebox, he's the only marvel villain they never wrote as comedic. Back in fawcett cpmics he was a sinple alien worm with healingn telepathy, intelligence and the ability to make indestructible cocoons. He was also the mastermind behind world war 2, an alien conqueror who nuked a city mutated billy's father and threatened to destroy the enitre world. He invented the rouges gallery team up. He had an official body coubt of 186,744 people and was sentenced to the electric chair when his lawyer immediately quit after hearing his crimes. And this was BEFORE dc started writing him. After he joined the dc universe, he became smarter, his telepathy grew to one of the strongest in the entire settings and ge just keeps getting worse and worse. He's a major villain to all hero groups, including the leauge, magic societies and the time travelling legends of tomorrow. This is because he's an unparalleled manipulator, magical genius and his species, the venusian worm, is only the larval stage of a creature that eats time and dimensions. Thankfully he's the last one.... but because he killed them all, he got to keep their skills and knowledge. And yet, he's STILL just a goofy looking catterpillar surrounded by monsters. This can go almost literally anywhere. There's no end to the possibilities here, and i can't wait to see where they go with it!
  • @sewthernbelle
No win for Darla taking the opportunity to give her Christmas list to Santa? I love Darla!
  • @isaacspencer846
I would have put a win for Sivana saying "No mortal weapons can harm us." Only for him to later be cut by a batarang. It's proof! Batman is a god.
  • @RasmodeusQ
surprised you didn't talk about the subtle detail his body can dampen momentum automatically e.g when he got shot at.. the bullets just dropped instead of bouncing, and when he caught the bus it didn't crunch or crack the windows... for me that is my favorite detail they captured beautifully.
  • @thebidness9431
When they first walk into the school they are wearing their Shazam colors prior to Billy having powers. Foreshadowing them all getting powers.
  • @harbl99
22:10 -- "Take hold of the staff and say my name. 1...2...3..." "BILLY!" I'd totally forgotten that gag. Loved this film. It was all heart, unironic superhero film.
  • I watched this last night, and I came to the conclusion that Shazam! is a Christmas movie
  • @unholydiver1095
12:50 I actually felt like he said that out of pity for her, as he sees what a flawed and lost person she really is. He also views that she is in another abusive relationship by the sounds of the man in the room. Also shows how he feels he isn't lost anymore (like he was before this) by giving up the compass to someone who actually is.
  • The Shazam Fam at the end got me fangirling so hard ALSO!! FUN FACT Billy would SHAZAM himself, fly as high as possible, turn back into Billy and fall yelling SHAZAM before hitting the ground for fun
